Try a No4 first. Relatively inexpensive and fairly accurate. SMLE Mark IIIs now cost up to £800, due mainly to the centenary of WW1.

As a collector, I have a whole batch of Enfields.

To be honest it could've been one of those, I'm pretty clueless about such things.

I'm eyeing up the new trigger release VZ58 in either .223 or 9mm.
Any more info on this?
Cheers
Managed to shoot it earlier this week, video HERE, the trigger mechanism is very clever, I really like them just torn between .223 & 7.62x39.

A fruitful morning at the Avalon Guns open weekend resulted in a tidy second hand Miroku Mk60.

I'll put it through its paces tomorrow.

This looks like the exact thread I need to read from start to finish. Wanting to get into clay pigeon shooting so I best start reading from page 1

Been in this flat 6 months now, so no chance of using my air rifles. Made a range in the garden of my old house when I lived there, where the family still reside, which was ok to use during the week but a good chance of upsetting the neighbours at the weekend biggrin

Shame as the ex is away and I still have the keys biggrin

Don't biggrin

Toyed with the idea of shooting from the end of the kitchen to the end of the hall. Only about 8m and I would have to be accurate. No holes in the plaster.

Now I have a couple of CO2 powered pistols which are pretty quiet.

Recommendations on clubs if there are any members on here that live close to Leeds. I've read up on applying for a FAC before but that was a few years ago so need to brush up on that. Got a group session booked with some mates at Hazel Bank in August.

Quite amusing, but some of these people really shouldn't be allowed to use firearms!

Quality! That rifle exploding was a bit scary though.
I've seen a few clips like that in the last few months - generally caused by barrel obstruction, most often from people cleaning from the muzzle end and leaving the cleaning rod in the barrel. yikes

Some of those clips made me cringe, especially the ones with the guns going off inside the house. WTF would you be doing with a loaded gun leaning against a wall?

I had it drilled into me, gun comes out of the cabinet, case, slip, whatever, check chamber is clear and safety on.

Most of those videos were from the US. So how many people are injured or worse in gun accidents over there. Shocking gun safety.

I only have air weapons but even if I am sure that I am the only one that has been in the flat I always check the mag and the breech of my Yunker 4 (AK74 training rifle), in case someone has popped in and changed it for the real thing, when I handle it.

Just instills good gun safety practice and healthy paranoia biggrin

What you state here shows excellent discipline and makes good sense. However, a weapon designed for use as a home defense tool, for instance, is pretty much an ornament if it's not loaded.
I am by no means in fear of attack from anyone, but since I choose to keep a shotgun in the house to mitigate against a home invasion and concealed carry when out and about, for personal protection, my guns are always loaded. As a result, very strict discipline is required in their handling.
