Yep, moved out here permanently a couple of years back - my other half's a local. We're down by Cincy and Dayton. Conveniently located about 2 minutes from a range biggrin
Well now I'm jealous! Happy shooting

Just starting my collection in the US and taking full advantage of the right to excessive gun ownership. I only do target shooting at the range, can't be bothered with hunting any more and the bird days over here are rubbish compared to the ones I had in the UK.

So far all I've bough is a Beretta 92FS and a Glock 17. Both of which I like a lot. I've also started an AR15 build but not far into that. Should be ready in January. Using mainly stag and spike tactical bits with some custom stuff. So far I've got the barrel, upper and scope sorted.
Once that's done I'm after a Remington bolt action and a 1911. Then I'm done for a while.
A 1911 would have been the first thing on my list thumbup

And then maybe another 1911...... laugh

Clay busters - question for you - I knw the default answer is 28 gm, but this weekend I shot for the first time in good few years, and bought club bullets. These turned out to be 21gm. The afternoon after shooting, I noticed I didnt feel any where near as tired as usual, and I think thats down to the smaller load.

Now, with the price of bullets being what they are, any saving is good. Considering Id not shot for 5 years or so, I was happy with my performance - happier still once I realised it was on 21gm loads.

So, as I want to shoot morwe often again, Im now thinking 24gm could be a good price point for shells /performance....

Am I daft ?

I use that lightest load I can for clays.

A few more recent additions..

This is a Mk1 HW80, It was dead rusty so i ground and polished it then had it reblued..

A HW35 polished and ready for reblueing, I need to make a one sided safety button for it..

A hw95 that's been tuned and is smoother than a maidens inner thigh bow

Stock needs redoing though as someone has made an utter mess of it rolleyes

A Hatsan AT44-10, Love this rifle cool

I also bought a Webley Osprey that had been dropped and the barrel snapped off but as luck would have it I have a Webley Tracker that needs all new innards and another Osprey that needs a stock due to it's own having been infested in woodworm and the exit holes filled with plaster by the previous owner!!!

Cheers, John smile

End of the season yesterday. It was one of those days when others ask, "Why are you putting on five layers of clothing?" and one answers, "Cos i can't get six on........".

Birds were thin on the ground, so the Beretta did not get many through it. Some newly arrived Woodcock whizzed through as it was so cold.

Newish Barbour Northumberland earned it's keep, fitted with the fur lining.

We were a mile away from HQ at the end of the last drive. The consensus was "Let's walk back to warm up a bit". Chatty group of guns stepping it out was a perfect end to the season, especially as most were well shot away from the end of season dinner the night before. Much shaking of hands and fairwells for the summer.

House now looks like a Chinese Laundry with everything being washed, cleaned or otherwise tidied away for now.

If I leave my break barrel air rifle weeks or months without being fired, will this adversely affect it? It's stored uncocked obviously.

Make sure it's got some oil, and it should be fine.

Only a few pics from me as was busy enjoying the day, it was absolutely beautiful. Snow on the ground and sun shining. Couldn't have asked for a better one!

Not a day that was organised or paid for, just a walk round the woods and fields with friends, bagged a few birds, Great fun was had by all and we retired to the village pub for a few pints and a log fire.

Silver pigeons - anyone know the difference between all the numbers?

I like the look of 3's they have fancy engraving and some seem to have darker wood - is this just coincidence or are they darker? Maybe you can get 1's with darker wood.

I want a sportin gun for clays rather than a hunting one. The 3 comes in two guises.

Also - I quite fancy shooting some game - I'm want to eat it all though so don't want to blast loads of them! Can anyone recommend a good shoot in yorkshire that would suit a newcomer to it?

the 1-5 and various editions are the quality of the wood and engraving

game has a auto safety, sometimes longer barrels, lighter etc

I would get a sporter in 28/30 with m/c - whatever quality is down to your wallet

I'm hoping for a 3. Some further reading has shown that the 4 had a black action and 5 a blueish hardened steel action.

I'm going down the second hand route so gun will not be fitted to me. How much diffrrnce could that make? Never shot a gun that has been fitted so I don't know how different it could be.

Currently just shoot somebody else's baikal so this will be a big improvement anyway.

I'd set yourself a budget and try a few with a decent fitter.

I ended up with something a lot cheaper (and lower grade) than I was intending as it just felt spot on. It made a nice change from having to get the "man maths calculator" out to justify going way over budget.
