I think Wobbly knows more than you think since he was popping .50 tracer at hard targets out to 1100 yds in Kent just last week. 50 cal ball is about £2.50 a go but tracer is more than twice that - would also be interested in how much it cost over there. Feeding an M99 is not cheap...
At Hythe/Lydd I presume. I understand .50 ball is now no longer being made. The only thing left that is not Sec 5 is tracer. I am told that a range must be booked specifically for tracer. (SAA was my business before I retired).

When you put your shotgun in its cabinet do you break it down and also face the barrels downwards or do you put it on it’s butt?

Thanks,
Barrells down, wrapped in a Winchester gun sock.

+1 for that.

Gun sox save so much wear/tear and damage in storage.

Thanks,
Butt down for me.

Recently got my shotgun certificate and now have a lovely old Nikko Shadow over and under, my first shot-gun purchase. Not really sure how old it is and am unable to date it more than knowing it was made between 1972 & 1979.

Also a new Franchi Affinity Synthetic, which is a really nice piece of kit. smile

Unless it's a synthetic stock why would you not put it in barrels down - as others have commented you can get no end of expensive problems from oil damage if you leave it barrels up with oil residue in the barrels

Then again your money your choice

I modified the rests in my gun safe to safely and securely accommodate my guns barrels down

Guys, I fancy doing some regular but cheap rifle shooting.

Ive found a local range to me that offers both live and air rifle ranges.

I fancy trying a springer air rifle and lots of practise -

Si, I reckon a TX200 underlever will be the the tool.

However, Im open to advice on what glass to use ?

Wont be shooting silly distances.

Aye Dan, the M99 is an expensive beast to feed.

The tracer rounds were £6 a bang ! I shot 20 of them and about 10 ball.

Pleased I took my .223 to rattle off a few cheap rounds.

On a vehicle weapons range a few years ago, we fired 10k .50cal (4B1T) rounds in a morning. Over 50k rounds in the week, so probably a nice semi-detached at retail prices.

But that's nothing, a live Javelin round is $75k.

Two shots from the M107 .50 Barratt cost $30.

I really fancied doing $200 for 100 rounds on the minigun.

At the end of every game season I always say I'm going to keep shooting throughout the summer...but stuff always seems to come up!

Had my first session on the clays to get my eye back in. Blasted through 200 or so clays in just over an hour. Hit more than I expected.

Looking forward to my booked game days this year...also hoping to pick up another day or two at short notice...

Great day of pest control yesterday with a few mates - 55 wallabies down, plus a couple of fallow deer for the freezer. Good to get some trigger time again.

I don't know if anyone here is interested, but I have 2 guns for 2 days of driven pheasant shooting booked in Kent that my guest and I can no longer attend for various reasons (Saturday in November, Saturday in January). Is there anyone here who'd like the days? Very reasonable smile

Sat 28th Nov and Sat 9th Jan. £600 per gun per day (have 2 guns per day booked), no VAT and no overages charged. 150 bird day. Out towards Rochester.

Also have 2 rooms at a lovely B&B booked for the nights before that you'd be more than welcome to take over.

Hi chaps,

Just about to apply for a shotgun license and spotted it's only a tenner more to get a firearm certificate too.

The guidelines don't say why you wouldn't just apply for both so I'm a bit confused. Looking for advice from anybody who's done it before!

I only really want a shotgun for now, but for an extra tenner (and an extra referee), surely I might as well apply for both, just in case I spot a nice rifle at the auctions or something.

Have I missed something?

There are many more hoops to jump through and wanting one just in case you find a rifle you fancy will get pretty short shrift.
