Your FO would be more than happy for it to be up there. However, not me because I am a lazy git and couldn't be arsed going up and down each time to get it. So it's currently in my bedroom cupboard waiting for my FO to come out.
Thanks Mr Trophy. I have a licence but after a move have only just got it back.

I am currently without gun but looking to get one sorted.

Can I just mount away now and get a gun? There isn't anything stopping me I guess as I have the ability to buy one but I haven't been advised the safe needs to be inspected.
I'll be completely honest with you, although it's a serious subject, I get the impression you can do what the hell you want. Once I got my interview, I got my licence in the post without even having a cabinet installed. I was under the impression you MUST have a cabinet installed, which is then signed off and you can purchase a gun once you've been signed off - I had my licence so could have purchased a gun if I wished too.

I've just literally moved house, I phoned up explaining the circumstances and was told "sounds like the war, but just crack on".... I've installed my cabinet and my shotgun is in there now - I am awaiting for my FO to come out and make sure the cabinet is OK.....

Thanks again.

I don't want to go and purchase and end up with a bking. Have dropped the Met an email this morning so will await a response.

My local 2 clubs are fine with me renting guns but their are some others who do not have the facility so is a bit of a pain.

Let me know what they say. I might give Police Scotland a chase up call.

if you have a lisence then crack on. The FO's are a mixed bunch but generally pretty lazy.

the met guy who came to check my safe after a move just looked at it from across the room, could have been stuck in with pritstick for all he knew.

Just spoke to them on the telephone.

Quite a vague answer. He said email them when the cabinet is installed. Couldn't really answer as to whether I could then purchase a gun or whether I would need a visit first.

IMO, if they haven't said "no" - get a cabinet installed, then go buy a gun smile

Just got the confirmation that I can purchase a gun and get the cabinet installed but they will need to arrange a home visit at some point.

Sweet.

I'm in Essex but am moving back to London reasonably soon, do the Met act pretty quickly when it comes to transferring my shotgun certificate as opposed to getting one originally, does anybody know?

Reasonably

I moved from Essex to Met.

You need to send the old one in and they return yours.

Mine took a week at most.

Any particular recommendations of a solid Ruger 10/22 setup for LSR / Gallery competition work?

I think I prefer that to prone (less faffing!) but the club rifles are not great with very stiff triggers.

Cheers in advance

The 10/22 Target model has a better trigger than on the standard 10/22.

Else Volquartsen and Kidd have loads of upgrade parts. Kidd triggers are highly rated.

Surbiton Postal (Probationary only currently so not looking to buy until summer at least once I've had a good 6 months of regular shooting and practice / competition entries).

I'll be chatting to them as well clearly but wanted to do a bit of research first

Cheers

Check out Rimfire magic in south Yorkshire they do their own version of the 10/22 each one is custom built, not mega expensive either.

Pump action for the win.

Ithaca M37s. Top one 1962, lower one 1976 and my go to gun for pretty much everything now :-)

I wouldn't get a 10/22 at all, there are other much better 22LR rifles for the money (and people seem to spend a lot more money trying to get a 10/22 to match what other rifles do out of the box). If you're going for semi-auto then check out the Marlins, just as reliable and generally far more accurate than a 10/22. Factory trigger is nearly as bad as the 10/22 trigger unfortunately, but easy enough to replace or modify.

If bolt action then look at Savage for nice triggers, CZ for nice all-round rifles (but triggers need work to match Savage), Zastava a good value option too.
