The Met are by far the best in the country for timings on SGC or FAC....
I beg to differ.

Cumbria process them so fast that you think they are sitting around waiting for an application to drop through the letter box.

I sent my SGC application in on a Friday, and by the following Wednesday the guy was phoning me asking to come round and see me on Friday. At the end of his visit he just said "No problem, you'll have it through the post in the next week or so".

So basically just over 2 weeks end to end.

I was pretty amazed.

I wish I still lived up there! 5 months and counting thus far and apparently there are people who are still in line waiting for interviews after 9 months... frown

I guess I'll just have to continue enjoying either the Beretta 686 SP Deluxe or the Browning 525s from a friend at the local Sunday Morning shoots winkthumbup

Going through renewal for FAC and SGC right now. Took forms to cop-shop, they photocopied my originals and gave them back to me. Great, ammo buy here I come!

Anyone on here got a Ruger Precision Rifle ?
Serious looking bit of kit!

I'm still in my probation with my local club (Only a couple of months to go) but I'm personally quite keen on getting a Ruger American rimfire:

Will be my first rim-fire rifle. I just prefer the looks to the CZ and prefer the bolt-action over the semi as I find myself rushing shots with the semi-auto. Bolt action with 10-shot magazine seems a good compromise for me as a relative noob

I'm thinking the same. too easy to blow though 200 rounds of other people's ammo laugh

I've fired several cZ bolt actions and they are like laser beams at 25 yards I've fired another which made one hole with five rounds but I can't remember the make.

Anyone recommend a RFD who can store two shotguns? My expiry is looming (renewal sent early March) and I am moving house at the same time. Thames Valley/Newbury area. Thanks

Whereabouts are you located? Expect a long wait for your renewal to come through TVP unfortunately. Just under 9 months for a straight forward renewal for me.

Newbury. Blimey, that long? I'll ring around some dealers and see if anyone can help.

Two Beretta 686E. One in 12 Bore the other a 20 bore. Both 30in barrels.

Both have been fitted to me. The 12 already had a 1/4-in cast, the 20 needed to be moved over. Both stocks had to be shortened.

The 12 I use for clays and game when the going is easy and I am standing.

The 20 is my default game gun, very light and easy to carry on a long day.

Good news, a shop very local to me offers storage for £15 per gun per month. Phew!

It's been a while since I've had to buy cartridges - what do people use at the moment for clays?

Just want a good performing cartridge at a keen price!

Have been looking on http://www.justcartridges.com/ and was going to perhaps go for the Gamebore Velocity or Evo with plastic wads.

The make is academic. But 28g #8s seem to be the norm, with #9s for fast crossers.

I mainly use Gamebore EVO plastics. My local shop does them for less than £50 for 250.

Thanks. So the price of 185/1000 is pretty good.
