28g 7.5, generally Hull SuperFast £90/500 from my local shop. I have also used Lyalvale 21g 7.5 which are about the same price, if you want less recoil. Most shoots around here insist on Fibre wads, you can't shoot plastic.

Depends on the gun, the fit, chosen choke and preference, the make is anything but academic.

£50 for 250 sounds bloody steep too. Most places will do a slab for £140ish depending on make/load so I'd save up a bit and buy more less often.

Yeah, so did the Met.....but given how efficient they are, I'm not complaining about them cashing cheque straight away.

I'm dreading dealing with a county force when I have to renew as I'll be most likely moving out of the Met area by then.

At least 3 of the 5/6 county forces beyond the Met area have a bad reputation for taking forever, Essex and Kent seem to be in particular, very bad. Thames Valley have major delay issues as well.

Heard a report yesterday from a shooting friend that his mate has been waiting for 12 months since they (Met) cashed the cheque. This is for the grant of an FAC.

Oof. Anyone know if Surbiton counts as Met police? I'm assuming so frown

Does that mean I'll have to keep using club rifles until the FAC is cleared? I don't want to evade the FAC so tell me if this is dodgy as feck but if that's the case, could the club buy for me and have it stored on club grounds etc and then transfer to me as/when the FAC is cleared? I'll probably keep it in the club in any event as I rent my house and not sure I want to drill big holes for cabinet.

The club rifles are so bobbins it'd be disheartening to wait for a year!

Begs the question.....as I don't know the answer, if they are not happy with your application, do they leave you 'hanging' without any further contact, or do they inform you in writing that your application has been rejected...??

I know of 3 x FAC applications to the Met within the past 6 months (myself included) that have been processed within a 4-8 week period.
However, I do know of a renewal application that has been 'hanging' for 6 months now as applicant was very honest and mentioned a 'medical' condition that IMHO, could have jeopardised his renewal....??

My licence expired today but I received a 6 month temporary one earlier in the week with an apologetic covering letter.
