The PH Gun Cabinet - Shooting Matters
Discussion
I've never posted on this thread before so here is my collection:
.22 Ruger 'new model' Single Six revolver (2-shot restriction for humane dispatch)
.223 Tikka T3
12G semi-auto Browning Maxus (5-shot)
12G O/U Browning B725 black edition
If anyone has a .22 revolver authorisation on their FAC, I'm selling the revolver as a require a sound moderated .22 pistol.

I've found a huge problem with tikka rifles. Because they guarantee accuracy you can't blame the rifle when you miss. I can't blame wind when it's still so that only leaves ammo. I'm running out of excuses
I had a nice time this morning at 200yrds getting to know my new (to me) No.4T........

Don't wear it out.................
A timely reminder as I'm looking for a no4 mk1 when is an Enfield considered worn out. I've heard people talking about head space stretching and numbers stamped somewhere. Is there a good buying guide anywhere online?
Headspace should not exceed .074in. You will need to seek out the proper kit to test it.

The funny thing is that the accuracy is really no better than most other modern rifles, the guarantee is just clever marketing.Pesty said:

You need Ian Skennerton's 'Bible'......not cheap though. Not going to be easy finding an unmodded Mk1 though, most will have been through FTR and been upped to Mk1/2, Mk1/3 etc.
A bit easier to find a Mk1* that hasn't been through FTR.
Richard Stork at Devizes Gunsmiths has a couple of unmodded Mk1's for sale though, one a nice very early manufacture Canadian example.

Regarding the revolver I'm selling; I've had a text if I would accept direct-bank transfer and if postage is included in the cost............
Dodgy springs to mind!!
Dodgy indeed! but just over the water in France it is the norm. Last week I had this delivered through the post and ammunition. It is an Erma 752 in .22lr. It did come in two parcels, but still...Dodgy springs to mind!!

I used to have one of those in the UK. Pretty sure it was a prize I won at a match! How times change...

Not a bad prize! I have to be honest apart from it being a bit fussy over ammunition I am very happy with it, but for the modest sum of 180 euros I could have done much worse. How times change...
[quote=Prohibiting]Finally picked up my new .22 Ruger SR22 (with 'supressor ready' threaded barrel) for humane dispatch. Silencer will be picked up next week. Not bad for legal UK ownership although it did take over a year for the Police to see sense .
Very nice. i have not seen a semi-auto for dispatch -usually they are 2 shot revolvers. is it limited to 2 rounds, or is the magazine full capacity?
i have just got a K22 LBP, which is allot of fun, despite the coathanger. The law sometimes is just ridiculous.

Will you need an extender for that? I presume so?Edited by Prohibiting on Saturday 5th November 09:56

What do you mean by an extender? Barrel extender? Because no... I'm allowed it as it is, a proper pistol. If you look in the second picture, I've screwed on the threaded adaptor ready for the silencer .
Regarding semi-auto pistol for humane dispatch; I was originally authorised a .22 2-shot revolver as the Police will try to do anything within their power not to grant a semi-auto pistol. I proved that I needed a pistol in order to accommodate a sound moderator (obviously you can't screw a sound mod onto a revolver) and after quoting various sections of the Firearms Act and Home Office guidelines they had no choice. This has been virtually a year long battle with a lot of determination to prove the Police wrong and I submitted a lot of proof/evidence of why I needed a silenced pistol as a suitable tool for the job. The noise generated by the revolver was scaring and causing distress to my livestock.
I've noticed Firearms issuing getting tougher every year talking to various people and I reckon they'll try to rule out semi-autos completely for new applications as the years go on. They'll probably bring in a new Firearms Amendment Act within 10 years IMO.
