Ticket came through very quickly - so I went shopping…. 1301 Competition
I've been goose shooting with a mate, using his spare semi-auto, and having thought that they were simply a "thug's gun" I am now very seriously considering buying one.

Love the blue on that one.

Just posting to boast a bit.

Had a great day out yesterday shooting mid range (2-300 yards). The club had a friendly competition shooting 8" splatter targets at 200 yards with iron sights and I won! Everyone else was shooting Lee Enfields or a Carl Gustav 7.62 target rifle with dioptre sights. I used my old BSA 12/15 .22LR.

Unfortunately it seems like they will change the rules for the next competition to add a calibre classification. If they do I think I may use my muzzle loading Hawken next time!

This is a section 1 gun - worth having a look at the Beretta A900 or the like if you want to use the same mechanism. A really fun gun to shoot.

Mildly annoying…that’s two grounds near me now that require you to use their cartridges (Mendip Shooting Ground and now Ladyswood).

It was nice to educate a fellow work colleague the other day when I told him I used to have a pump action shotgun and he thought they were outright illegal in this country.

That's the first I've ever heard of any ground forcing people to shoot a certain cartridge only....!

Not good news.

Both of those will now be removed from my 'grounds to shoot at' list frown

Yep, MSG only allow their own Lyvale variant cartridges and have done for years. Ladyswood have now followed suit with their own ones from Hull.

In both cases it’s allegedly due to noise restrictions.

Decided to take my shooting more seriously this year and have been getting more involved with registered shoots. Not entirely sure why I waited so long but have been really enjoying it, also been meeting lots of really nice people.

Been enjoying it so much went ahead and bought myself a new gun that fits me much better and is just overall better balanced. A second hand Caesar Guerini Invictus I Ascent. Just itching to get it back as it’s having the stock extended and a new recoil pad fitted.

One of the local gunshops have a preowned one of these in stock in great condition, very lightly used.

Will hold 15 rounds.

Trying hard to resist...

I'd love to bring it to a clay shoot.
And now it's mine! smile

Saturday just gone, a group of 6 of us visited Cambridge Gun club for our monthly tour shoot….

The wind was pretty fierce and gusting hard….this made some of the targets absolutely hilarious, as the wind took hold of them.

Not a bad ground , good variety, but no trap labelling , so until you saw the bird, you had no idea where to hold etc….

We then had our usual breakfast and cars and guns banter, and another enjoyable shoot.

Aprils meet is scheduled for Ian Coley Sporting in the Cotswolds…..

Final date tbc, but if you want to meet like minded folks, have a relaxed no pressure shoot and then talk cars, feel free to join us…..
