I shoot there, really nice ground and no problem taking a mate.

Yes it was really busy.

I go to Surrey sporting in Effingham as well, although had to give it a miss on Sunday, as we had to visit family.

I know there's no club exemption for S1 shotguns but is it OK to let a friend use one at a clay ground?

I suspected as much. So to sum up, only someone who has one or more S1 shotguns on their ticket can use a S1 shotgun.

Can you go clay shooting on your own? I want to go, but don't have anybody to go with. Can you gon on your own or do you need at least one other?

Do you operate the clay machine yourself?

You need your own gun and a SGC if you want to shoot on your own?

Some grounds are caddied, so a staff member will come round with you and operate the traps,

some grounds operate a claymate or promatic system which you operate them on a delay.

I was at AGL this sunday, they have a promatic system and works ok.

Im looking at getting back into shooting again. There's no clubs near me so trying to join, with the eventual goal of getting a Sec1 is not going to be easy, but there's a clay club about 2 miles from me, and SGC's are easier to get, and i've never used a shotgun before. I think i'd quite like it.

When I've been solo (and met others doing the same) you can probably just tag on with another group starting around the same time. Most people are friendly!

Just spent £199 having this repaired and tuned by John Bowkett, except it it now a full length barrel again. That will teach me for not using it in 10 years!
