I'd say the Ruger, there was a prominent lever in front of the trigger guard and behind the magazine.

That'd be the mag release.

Question; What's available in the uk in straight pull with a bit more ooomph than a 5.56? Last time I shot rifles,, I loved the straight pull AR I shot but thought the .308 cartridges on the bolt actions were much more fun... Is there a 'best of both worlds' option out there?

Someone was selling FAL's, well was last year, but they look a bit shoddy, especially for the money.

You could always pick up an AK - cheaper to buy, cheap ammo, fun, but not very accurate.

There's also the VZ-58 in 7.62x39, but still nowhere near the welly of a .308.

How about some high velocity slugs in a 12-gauge semi auto for maximum giggle factor?

Oh yes, that is very much on the radar! But I fancy having a go at this 'accuracy' thing I've heard so much about!

Meh. A slug that large you just need the right post code... biggrin

On a less-powered note, I picked up my first CO2 powered BB pistol on Friday. I want more now...

There is only one rifle I'd buy in .308 straight pull, the LMT. Unfortunately he L1A1's / FAL's doing the rounds are not all that good apart from looking retro cool especially considering the huge price they are going for.

I think the LMTs are about £3k though, plus optics! They do look the business tho...

Sorry, I meant a new one, although I now fancy a Browning 725 or a Miroku MK60.
Buy a Caesar Guerini.
Highly recommended from me.

That LMT, as far as I'm aware, does not have a side charging handle. Therefore it's a bit of a waste of time. The monolithic upper is very cool though.
I've seen someone use an AI of some kind with a 20" barrel for CSR. A side-charging AR-15 in 5.56 or 300 Blackout is probably the best tool for that job though.

Picked up a Walnut .177 Air Arms TX200HC today, it's a lovely thing cloud9

It's come complete with a fairly boggo Hawke HD scope which will do for now, can anyone recommend a scope which excels in low light conditions? Mainly for shooting rats, budget ideally under £250.
