No. Old threads are cool.
Can we start a new thread for 2015?

Not a bad section of the draw for Murray but not easy either. Can't really see anyone but Djokovic winning really, maybe Federer with an outside chance.

May have a small bet on Stan Wawrincka as he seems in good form at present.

Can't see it happening on grass.... he has a good serve but not enough time to prepare his shots on a fast low bounding court.

If I was a betting man my money would be on Andy Murray. I think he's playing better than when he won the tournament a couple of years ago and I think he'd have a real chance against Djokovic on grass (he did after all beat him in straight sets in the final in 2013). In theory he'll have to beat Nadal and Federer as well as Djokovic to win the title but it wouldn't surprise me if neither Rafa nor Roger made it to their seeding slots as both are more vulnerable in majors than they used to be. I seem to remember that Murray supposedly had the difficult draw in 2013 (with both Nadal and Federer in his half) but in the event he didn't have to play either; perhaps a lucky omen for 2015?!!

It's Djokovic or Murray. I can't see Fed beating Murray and then Gjokovic a couple of days later.

I agree Andy is playing very well at the moment, his game is certainly 'bigger' than it was when he won a couple of years ago... he can hit through anyone now.
Just he is in Fed's section and Federer on grass is still a tough match up for Andy.

TBH as long as it isn't Djokovic lifting the title I would be too upset. Totally sick of his on court antics and his 'gluten free' diet.

interesting, Andy's odds were around 4.5 two weeks ago.. So there is money going on him.

Andy and Novak should both get to the final, but there's a bit of a way to go before then! It will be interesting to see if any mind games come in to play - a la Ashe and Connors.

That Clare Balding is one of the most awful presenters on TV at the moment. Totally ruins the "today at Wimbledon" show

In all fairness no she's not, she normally ok - especially compared to a lot of other presenters.

However the new Wimbledon2day format is dire, the "audience" add nothing and 'winging it' would be polite way to describe last night's show frown

Hope it gets sorted for tonight!

I like her, always enthusiastic in what she is presenting, however I agree, terrible, terrible format idea. What was wrong with the relaxed chit chat round the table in their studio as they have always done!

All three of them looked awkward with it tbh. Though Lindsay seemed to be more ok with it. I hope the powers that be realise it is bad but I doubt it.

Yes, pretty much in 100% agreement here.
Lloyd is just embarrassing as a commentator, I actually wonder if he is watching the matches half the time, or if he just closes his eyes and spouts out the same old tired lines over and over. The combination of Lloyd-Castle just seems especially ignorant to me, they never seem to accurately identify winning patters of play or the 'flow' and 'momentum' in a match.

I agree it would be really nice to hear some of the women* commentating on the men's matches, Wade is pretty decent when on Eurosport, Sam Smith is OK, Jo Durie, Davenport, an older Australian (I think) women but I don't know her name.

  • With the exception of Tracy Austin as she is is bloody awful.
The problem with the BBC sport is they have their 'talent' and they are unwilling to update it, even when they do change the team they usually pick another 'talent' from a different platform (i.e. Balding), regardless of whether they are any good.

This seems to sum it up rather well http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2015-06-30/top-gear...

Spot on. However just like the BBC website redesigns, the viewers will be ignored because progress must be made and we just 'don't get it'. To change would admit a mistake has been made.

Oh yes, the website...... hate it since they introduced the 'breaking news' banners. Not to mention the Iplayer redesign a while back... still can't get my head around how that is supposed to be an improvement.
