As an Aussie I'm embarrassed that Krygios carries on like that. Nothing wrong with being competitive or shouting at yourself etc - but swearing so much you get a warning and gifting an opponent a game is childish and brings the game into disrepute. I hope The All England Lawn Tennis Club choose not to allow him to play next year - give his place to a qualifier who will appreciate it a bit more..

Kyrgios will learn to clam down a bit on court in time. Many players act like plonkers when they are young but learn to tone it down as they get older and become fan favorites. People love to get on their back but the reality is it is part of growing up in the public eye for many of them.
Hewitt caused just as much offence when he was younger with all his 'come on rock' screams and general arsey attitude. Murray has been criticized a lot for his on court attitude/swearing and it is only the last couple of years it has changed. Roddick was another one, absolutely obnoxious towards umpires and line judges throughout his career but now he is retired he is loved by everyone and gets media pundit work. Safin.... well he used to walk on court smash about 4 rackets a match and b
h non stop but people loved him for it? Mcenroe was far worse than anything we see these days. People want 'characters' and 'personality' in sport but then throw their arms up in the air when someone shows some... No wonder we get all the bland PR trained sports people that do the 'right' thing the whole time and give boring content free interviews.
Did you hear quite how rude he was to the umpires though and his attitude after the match in the interview? did you see the way he played against gasquet? (I have never seen anyone lose a game so purposefully). I could forgive the odd outburst, broken racket etc and I've seen plenty of momentary loss of their 'cool' Ivanesevic did it one year, Becker did it etc but Kygrios went one further in how personal he made it.

And that is the bit that I just don't get. What is it about Kyrgios' behaviour that shows he is 'a character'? What is so entertaining/ appealing about watching someone behave like a child who hasn't got his own way? The 2008 Wimbledon final, the 2012 Aussie Open final; they were matches that displayed true character. Not some hot head who hasn't yet grown up.

TBH I've never particularly liked Kyrgios as a player, I think he is arrogant and not as good as HE thinks he is. But my point is people claim to want this kind of expressive behaviour and for players to let their personality out...... and when they do they get nothing but abuse for it. Not everybody is sweetness and light. The 2008 Wimbledon final, the 2012 Aussie Open final; they were matches that displayed true character. Not some hot head who hasn't yet grown up.
Other players have behaved just as badly in the past but gone on to become fan favorites.
What I dislike is the media (and now social media brigade as well) getting on a young guy's back. Also now some racial elements been dragged into it with some retired Australian sportswoman saying he shouldn't represent Australia and should go back to where his parents came from, etc. All very nasty.
He acted like a dick, but he is only 20. I'm sure he will look back on it in 5 years and cringe hard.
It's unlikely he'll win today but Pospisil looks a very good player - much better than a world number 54 anyway. Big serve, very good at the net and has a decent forehand. Not very good at returning serve though - goes for a winner straight away and tends to miss. He should just block it back and at least get in the rally.....says the armchair expert

Speaking of BBC commentators does anyone else find it annoying and cringe-worthy at the constant celebrity spotting they do. Sure when the future King and Queen are around talk about them for a moment but some of the British commentators will mention every single bloody person in the Royal Box - and generally by their first name as if they have been friends of years.
