Fair play to Serena the way she just pulled this game back from 3 points down falling apart.

Excellent point to deny Championship from Muguruza.

Wish this crowd would shut the hell up. Yes the ball landed close to the base line, yes the ball skimmed the top of the net, yes the player had to stretch far for that shot. No, we don't need to hear your posh gasps and shrieks halfway through a point. I expect more of the same tomorrow.

The womens game seems to be far too short. It seems the contest has only just started, yet it's nearly over.

In these days of honed fitness regimes and high quality sports equipment, isn't it time the chicks laid on a real battle and moved to five sets...?

That would probably favour Serena even more... she could totally relax then with time to play her way into a longer match. It has been a great tournament for Muguruza but she was never going to beat Williams today.

What the fk was that huge percussive, echoing noise just as Mugaruza was serving? Not that's why she lost but up to that point she was coming well back in the game and it stopped her in mid first serve.

Then she lost the next 4 points to lose.

Either someone was so selfish they didn't care she was serving or someone did it deliberately. Either way, what a tt .

Graf has 22 major titles, Court has 24 - I wonder what the odds are on Serena getting to 25 - she's just won her 21st. She's going to be 34 in August but she doesn't seem to be slowing down physically.

No idea. But it was lovely to see Hingis and Mirza win.

Court isn't really a fair comparison is she? Didn't she win nearly half her slams over in Australia at a time when most of the best players refused to travel and play there. And given what happened to Monica Seles and how that helped Graf one could make a pretty strong argument for Serena already being the GOAT.

If she wins the US open, completes the golden slam and ties the record I think it is beyond debate she is the GOAT. But even if that doesn't happen I would imagine you couldn't get odds on Serena beating Graf's record, she only needs 2 more and barring some kind of horrific injury or mental breakdown it is impossible to see her not winning 2 more in the next 2 years or so.

Not to mention the 15 doubles slam titles she holds as well...... Graf has 1 IIRC.

Does anyone know if there are any sites available that will be streaming the final live?

That was an amazing comeback. Mirza's backhand cross court angle to the take the game to 5 - 5 and the roof break was brilliant.

Hingis again today as well in the mixed doubles final.

Install the google chrome browser then install the 'hola better internet' add on and you can change your location to the UK and the bbc tennis stream/iplayer should work.

Or if you are willing to sacrifice on picture quality you can watch it here:

and here:
