He was in major decline from 31 and hung in there for 4 years I recall. More the point, the British public were willing him to win and he usually hot his ass handed to him. Alas he was the best we had. I'll day this; a nicer person than Murray. That guy needs some serious PR help.
Murray is himself, why should he be a PR drone? He plays tennis very well and is a bit monotone and indifferent to media hype, I quite like him for that, he is himself.
I think he is a two faced sulky knob who is disrespectful to his English fans.he is a great player but I have no interest or take pride in his success.
You, Sir, are an idiot.
I'll say this, Andy is a genuinely nice lad, a phenomenally hard worker and has a great, dry sense of humour. I couldn't be happier for him, thoroughly well-deserved. Some of the things I've read on the various tennis threads regarding Andy are hilarious as they couldn't be further from the truth. 100% of the time the negativity comes from people that have never met him. He is a world class, multiple slam winning tennis player. He isn't trying to be a talk show host and reserves his energy on training so he can win championships. Great job so far!

Looking like Murray may not play in the Davis Cup against Serbia later this week even though he'll still travel to Belgrade with the team to give them his support. Seems like he sees the Olympics as a higher priority and, while in some respects I understand that, being a relatively old bugger I think the Olympics is a non-event in tennis terms and that Davis Cup is the more important of the two! I really hope he decides to play but at the end of the day it's obviously his choice as to where he decides to focus his efforts; if he doesn't play in Belgrade hopefully the team will still be strong enough to beat Serbia as I think Djokovic has already confirmed he won't be taking part...

Difficult one, I imagine he has talked it through at length with the Davis Cup coaches etc.

I can imagine whichever way he chose he woukd have disappointed some and he really couldn't do both.

Really, i used to refer to him as Handbag Henman. A very average player that has moments of decent performance. but overall a bit of a wet blanket
What an utterly moronic statement. Henman won $11.6 million in a fantastic career that saw him win 15 titles and reach 6 GS semi's. There's nothing average about that at all. He was one of the best half dozen players in the world for much of his career. He's also a decent guy.

Murray's feat is exceptional, he's truly world class and were it not for Djokovic he would probably have won half a dozen slams by now.

Somebody just said Wayne Rooney won.

This isn't true, is it?

I think that was his problem, he was too nice. Don't know if it was his upbringing but he never quite seemed to have the killer instinct, to get down and dirty when it mattered. His fist pumps were always a bit femme, it all seemed a bit put on.

That's not to take away from what was a very good career, but Murray has an edge, and I think a level of determination that Henman didn't have.

Not sure. I think he's a bit of a boring fart, like that Scottish bloke who plays bat and ball.

I never said Murray wasn't a great player. But he has no personality and is a staunch SNP/devolution supporter. I find it disrespectful to English. It is my opinion. You live in the U.S so you have enough issues to deal with don't you.

Sorry to puncture your balloon, but he's a charming bloke and in no way a staunch supporter of any political party or movement.

You should really try and meet the guy.

As well as being a bit dim are you also a bit blind? My comments were in response to your stupid post about Henman, which is what I quoted. You appear to have equally moronic views about Murray but I was not commenting on those views, nor did I quote them. My comments about Murray were general.

He's doing not bad then given he's current sports personality of the year.

I don't know him but I'm pretty sure he's like anyone else away from the camera. Quite why you want him to put on some sort of show I'm not sure. He's like a Scottish Kimi Raikkonen. Get on with the job and give minimum time to the peripheral flim flam that is the press, media and sponsors. And that's no bad thing (as his three grand slam titles, Olympic gold and Davis Cup win prove).

Really. Resorting to play ground claims. I don't know if I'm smarter than you or not. I have two degrees, law and accountancy and I spent 25 years in the city as a risk analyst in credit derivatives. I don't know how to change oil in a land rover though so maybe you are smarter than me.

You have form arguing on here don't you. I knew it would take a while for you to conjure UL what you though would be a Witty retort but it was lame.
