How about running the Kierin without the derney and letting the riders decide on the speed for themselves? I would have thought it would still produce exciting mass sprints.
And if we're talking about removing events, I'd bin the Omnium. I know what you'll say about testing a rider over a number of disciplines but to be honest I was as bored as I was confused watching 150-odd laps of bikes dancing up and down the banking for no apparent reason with sprint points being dished out all over the place.
Heathen! Get out.And if we're talking about removing events, I'd bin the Omnium. The points race could benefit from some simple on-screen graphics I think.
A bit like the moving line for various records in the swimming, it would be handy to have the lead group with a green shadow, the pursuitants as orange and the peleton as red, for instance, when it starts to get more complicated.
And they should bring back the Madison. I love it!

Rowsell-Shand and Cav were on Sunday Brunch C4 today. (Probably on catch up , but you'll need to fast forward a lot of it)
Other guests looked a bit lost as they were all people I've never heard of. Jo was of course brilliant. Mark was OK, kicked the Rio organisation and facilities But you can see he still regards Silver as a failure. I get it, he's super competitive. I hope in time he'll realise its still a great result

Great quote about a segment on the Ezaro:
Back in 2012, Galician former pro Ezequiel Mosquera recounted to the Faro de Vigo newspaper that "This climb has a segment of 300 metres which is more than tough, it's impossible." Mosquera recounted that the first riders to tackle the climb was a local club, the CC Noia in the early 1990s, using a 39x23 gear. However "most of them went up on foot - on foot and backwards, because it was impossible to go up walking forwards!"

He's no dawg and he doesn't ride for sky, but well done simon yates.
Was a really good ride that - from the whole team. Loved that even Millar couldn't figure who they were riding for, must have made it hard to counter from the other teams. Post race commentary suggested that Bertie could have kept with him, but didn't - possibly because he presumed they were riding for Chavez and Yates was a sacrificial "send him up front" move to jump up to / off of.Love the Vuelta, the hilly stages a re sooooo much more fun than bunch sprints.
Top win by Yates
Having watched first few days of this Vuelta I can see why none of the top sprinters turned up .
Mind you means the GC teams haven't had a steady first week where they normally leave it to the sprint teams to chase breakaways, be interesting to see how it pans out come the Pyrenees.

The commentator's bias to Contador always makes me chuckle, he's 1:14 behind Chavez and 1:52 down overall, what is the benefit of marking Chavez?
He needs to make up time not ride defensively like he's got a comfortable lead.
These days, when he tries to make up time he invariably ends up crashing. He needs to make up time not ride defensively like he's got a comfortable lead.
