Ride of the day must go to Fabio Aru who is less than 2 minutes behind Froome and 5th overall.
He's had a fabulous season. A real find for Vino.

I heard that too. Although anyone with any talent invariably gets linked to Sky.

Indeed, massive miscalculation by the main pack today but all credit to Dowsett, he's got a great chance to win overall now.

Brilliant from Contador, total class. Credit to Froome too, good to see a Sky team leader with balls.

Great from Contador and Froome today. I'd need crampons to get up a slope that steep.

Some mouth breather threw a stick at Froome! I'm still amazed how Contador rode away from Frrome....

Why? Froome dragged AC all the way up the mountain, setting the pace which was very constant apart from a couple of half hearted attacks which suited Contador down to the ground!

So this was posted on another forum I look at, makes it ever more questionable IMO.

https://translate.google.com/translate?depth=1&amp...

Contador was off his bike completely from the TdF crash and broken leg on 14 July until 1 August

First ride without pain 14 August - First stage of Vuelta 23 August

So he's won a GT off 8 days pain fee training...

Not really... On a slope with those sorts of gradients, there's practically no physical advantage to sitting second. Psychological maybe, but it's amazing how quickly you transfer from using energy to overcome wind resistance to overcoming gravity as gradient starts to increase.

If that's the case Contador is even better. wink

For those interested (which surely has to be everyone on this thread! hehe ), Jens Voight's crack at the hour record is being shown on Eurosport at 20:45 on Thursday.

Didn't realise it was that soon.

How long has he been preparing? Or is it a case that as he's first under the new rules he'll set the bar?

I'll have to arrange a visit to a Sky sunscribing friend...

He's been training in the position all year apparently - he qualifies for the extra stretched position of >190cm riders.

Some amusing things written on the bike too.

Yes, I think that is the case. He'll lay down a benchmark under the new rules.

On a completely different note. Last day of the vuelta today. I'm really liking the format of this year's race. Time trial on the last day is great.

It's in the evening as well I believe. Perfect :-)
