On my phone so can't add the picture, but picture on Team Sky FB page of all the riders camped out under a bridge. Riders went on strike as the temperature hit 40'c and a sandstorm caused the race to be shortened to 90 or so km.

Going back to Malcolm Elliots days and those of us who remember him fondly for a Brit to win the TDF and have days like today is just bewildering.

Yes I watched the stage just before, thoroughly enjoyed it, Loving the backdrop to today's stage in particular. Bertie looks like he's going to have a great tussle with Froome in this race and hopefully for the coming season, along with the other GC contenders. Promises to be a stellar year.

Ha ha, I wish I had half his speed! Seriously though, Malcolm Elliott was one of my favourite riders in the 80s. I remember him riding for ANC Halfords and the Raleigh team domestically then went on to a very successful career on the continent and then latterly in the USA. Still pretty fit now apparently.
I was stood at the adjacent urinal to Malcolm Elliot at a race last year.

Here's Malc with I think Joey McLoughlin, a similarly talented rider. However Joey never appeared as a model in a 'Dear Deidre' case book story in The Sun...

first proper wink race of the year on Saturday... Could be an interesting indication of Wiggins' form as he targets Roubaix and Stannard as reigning champion will probably feaure highly but I suspect a Belgian or a Czech will win this one... I hope the weather is miserable too biggrin

Good win by Tornado Tom in the Kuurne Brussels Kuurne. Proper racing is back, dower hard men set against a backdrop of grey, drizzly overcast skies. Bring on the rest of the classic season!

Whoops, brain fart! I did wonder why Garmin Sharp was still racing in blue. To the back of the class. boxedin

Still enjoyed the race though!
