Is there any footage of the crash that took out Ciolek, Kwitatoski, Gilbert et al?

There was nothing shown on Eurosport apart from the aftermath. It was quite a narrow section and they were in the middle of the peleton so unless there was a spectator filming I suspect that none exists.

It's a tricky descent. It was bone dry when I did it in the summer and it would be very easy to get it wrong, especially in a decent size group.

Haven't seen any footage, but this hints at how scary it was.

For those asking earlier in the thread why riders go in breaks, check out the Tour of Catalunya results from today...

I think Riis's goose is cooked anyway. I'm pretty sure that the Danish anti-doping authority are about to release a report that will probably throw him under the bus.

Looking at the result is probably the best thing as the coverage didn't start until around 30km or so due to technical problems.

Speculation that that could've been the reason why they let the break away get so far ahead, as no data was getting back to the team cars?

The chalkboards appeared to be being used as normal, but perhaps only when the tech issues had been solved. Heaven forbid these professional racers should keep an closer eye on a break if they aren't getting info... wink

I think it would be great if more races were raced without radio communications between the riders and team cars. There's something to be said for a brave rider sneaking up the road and taking a win. For added entertaiment it's great when the rest of the bunch come in, unaware the race is already won, and the seond placed man doing the celebration as if he was the winner hehe

Fully agree!

Seems there are problems with the broadcast today too, lost live coverage with 28k to go.

And Swift... and Porte.... Tomorrow could be fun too!

So Boonen is out, Spartacus is out, Sky must be feeling pretty good about Roubaix given its supposed to be Wiggos target and now G is flying...
