To pick some pro cycling that isn't about the Giro or drugs cheats, does anyone understand the rules of the Pearl Izumi Tour Series?

It's a team competition, with the final team standings on the day being based on the cumulative time of all five riders in the team, which I understand, but any riders who have been lapped by the time there are three laps to go get pulled from the course, so how do they figure out times for those guys? I've checked the FAQ section on the website, but it doesn't say.

Non finishers get the final classified riders time plus 10 seconds for every lap they do not complete.

That makes sense, but why then do they sometimes sprint for positions?

For anyone who hasn't seen it, it's worth watching the highlights of the Barrow round of the Tour Series (ITV 4) just for the celebrations of the guy who came second! You rarely see anyone that happy to win, never mind come second! hehe

It is nice to see a race series where a 36yr old part timer can get on the podium in a race against the likes of Ed Clancy and Kristian House. smile

Nearly 20 miles in an hour on a chopper wearing flares!

That is an awesome effort.

It proved that you could dope and remain within the constraints of your bio passport, it didnt prove that anyone was actually doing it...

Dauphine this week, I'm looking forward to this one as a few people will have to start showing their hands in advance of le tour.

Well known that micro-dosing and TUE-manipulating are big issues for WADA.

Looking forward to Dauphine, TdS and Wiggo!

They're nearly all there - Froome, Nibali and Contador. The race should give us a fascinating insight as to where the form is going, we know Contador's already, be interesting to see what Nibali's form is like after apparently a huge block of training rides in Tenerife. Froome will definitely be looking to put in the big attacks in the mountains for sure, although you can still come into this race pretty much undercooked, and let's face it Froome and Nibali have done hardly any racing this year at all. A hell of a lot can happen between now and the Tour.

Edit - a quick shout out also to Tobyn Horton (local lad) who claimed a brilliant 3rd place in the Canary Wharf round of the Tour series the other day.

Aren't these low estimates? Wiggins recons he's aiming for 55.250 depending on air pressure.

As its higher than average today, I'm going to knock him down to 54.850 hehe
