HUUUUGE crash! Spartacus utterly fked by it.
Race neutralised for 2nd time in stage I think.
What is it with this guy?? He's had so many set backs.Race neutralised for 2nd time in stage I think.
I'm very disappointed at the outcome of today's stage.
He needs to get in a better team where he has quality riders all around him.

Did you watch the stage? Did you watch the crashes? Did you watch the battle up the 19% gradient at the end?

Seriously? It was a 20 man pile up at 20-30mph. Men and bikes were cart wheeling around, most were lucky not to hit the lamp post. The race was neutralised twice, they had to use both choppers to help sort out the medical situation. What exactly do you think ANY team members around or none at all would do there?

some people have very different ideas I thought the finish was brutal and fantastic sport.Did you watch the stage? Did you watch the crashes? Did you watch the battle up the 19% gradient at the end?

A very good and well sorted team can ensure that there main man is at the right end of the Pelton. Did you watch the stage? Did you watch the crashes? Did you watch the battle up the 19% gradient at the end?
Of course today's stage was tough no doubt. I'm just gutted to see cancellara lose the yellow jersey.
He also had quite a few big crashes in the last few years. Sure some is unavoidable ut part of me thins he needs a better team.
Spartacus will never be his team's 'main man' for a Grand Tour...
He's bloody quick, of that there is no doubt, but he's no sprinter in a bunch, is too feared in a breakaway (other riders just sit up and let the peloton back), and can't climb.
The very odd one man break gaining a stage win, a strong (or winning) TT, holding yellow for a couple of days after a good prologue and a time bonus is where he is for GTs, and the team's efforts are awarded accordingly.
A team that would put him as true leader won't be good enough to make it worthwhile. He's far better paid (and looked after in one day races) as a super domestique for a big hitter - stringing the whole damn peloton out whilst his leader sits a few places behind...

I didn't say he was a grand tour contender. Usually when one team member dons the yellow jersey the rest of the team mates do what they can to hold on to it as long as possible. Orica green edge are an example of that.
If you heard what the team bosses/commentators were saying, having a rider in yellow is a big deal. There's no doubt they would have liked to kept it for longer.
Having a rider in yellow is good for sponsors and team moral etc.

Spartacus withdrawn. Fair play on him for ensuring the Maillot Jaune completed the day's stage. Classy guy is Fabian, he understands the ethos of the thing. A bloke very much like Jens - you die on your pedals.
Once again we saw how brave these riders are many of them cut to bits but intent on finishing the stage before getting proper treatment.I think Fabian has cracked vertebrae ouch!! he must have been in terrible pain just to finish the stage.Today will be a killer they are certainly making every stage important this year. Hope Tony Martin gets up there today.
Two fractured vertebrae... http://roadcyclinguk.com/racing/fabian-cancellara-...
