That looks like some kind of brake failure. Nobody would take that corner at that speed out of choice. His bike leaves the road at the approach to the corner due to the speed.

Noticed a couple of other riders hit the motorbike just afterwards too.
I thought that at first but now I doubt it, as he's pulling a stoppie towards the end, implying near maximum braking.
And yeah, bit of a stter that the motorcycle decided to stop where it did leaving nowhere for those two riders to go.

Froome confirmed for La Vuelta. Looks like everyone but Contador will be there.

The downhill camera doesn't tell the whole story, that camera below seems to suggest he flew around the right hander above, possibly expecting a little more road before the next bend, this put him on the inside line for the much sharper left hander following, grabbing all the brake he could was the only option.
Here's to a full and swift recovery.

What a champ. Broken pelvis, broken ribs, a fractured sacrum and a pneumothorax. He broke two legs in 2007 in a crash with a lorry and came back stronger.

Do you think he can watch the interview back without cringing to death? He must know those noises he's making are lies.

"I thought I'd get a fine and time penalty that would take me out of the overall classification. After all, I won't be the first or last to do this kind of thing."

So they knew full well what they were doing and thought it a time penalty or similar would be better than being way behind.

Astana really ought to be chucked out of the sport. They won't because money talks, but they've made a mockery of things with their doping scandals and employee history and now this.

Sagan and now another Tinkoff rider out of the Vuelta thanks to motorcycle crashes. Oleg is very unhappy.
