Am I going nuts. Sports Mail section in the Daily Mail says "Only two men have won three Tours de France in the post war period and today Chris Froome will begin his bid to become the third. The first was Louison Bobart and the other was Greg LeMond".
There have been a number of cyclists who have won three times.
Nope, only two riders have won it three times, a few, Merckx, Hinault etc have won it more than three times which is where I assume the confusion arisesThere have been a number of cyclists who have won three times.
Add well as staying out of trouble, Froome will be looking for any bonus seconds he can get hence his high finishes. Was hoping Dan Martin would strike today but very pleased for Sagan.

I thought sagan looked cooked with 150 to go but his second kick was super impressiveAdd well as staying out of trouble, Froome will be looking for any bonus seconds he can get hence his high finishes. Was hoping Dan Martin would strike today but very pleased for Sagan.

Wow just 3 to equal Eddy could he possibly do it? He seems like he has really got his mojo back.
Interesting stat on ITV highlights, think they took time trial wins away from the total wins and it left Cav way out on his own. Can't recall exact numbers, nothing like a good stat fiddle! Good job I recorded highlights tonight, stage was that slow my eurosport recording stopped miles from the end
Is it not another 6 needed to equal Eddie Merckx? very unlikely this year I guess.
However, it's really good to see that he has really found some form again - The Etixx train never really fired properly for whatever reason, always nearly there, tweeks needed etc.
But having Bosan-Hagen, Eisel and Renshaw just keeping him safe, and him hopping around using a few more sprinters instincts seems to be doing him good - Kittel's form certainly seems to be off.

He won't do it this year, but I think all but certain within the next 2, barring catastrophes. However, it's really good to see that he has really found some form again - The Etixx train never really fired properly for whatever reason, always nearly there, tweeks needed etc.

Seems to be doing him a world of good having the trusted squad around him, it's flippin' lovely to see.
Guess it's as much confidence as it is lead-out and skill for all sprinters, but that first leg of the tripod seems a particularly critical one for Cav.
Boardman gave some good insight into Cav's 2 wins, he thought Dimension and Cav are much more comfortable in dealing with situations where the plan can't be executed perfectly this tour.
Whereas Lotto and Etixx seem very reliant on the plan being excuted to the last minute detail and if it doesn't happen it doesn't work out, Kittel for instance yesterday lost out big time.
To the guy who said a few pages back it would be a dull tour, pah! 3 great finishes so far.

I can't think of another sport were you need to concentrate so much for 4 hours plus just to be in the right position amongst nearly 200 other competitors for the last 200m. I don't think he gets the recognition he deserves and I just hope he gets his Olympic gold medal.
An Olympic Gold Medal and there will be nothing left as a sprinter that he can win.Certainly on the list of Top 20 British Sportspeople ever. Probably Top 10.
He has:
Worn all three Grand Tour leaders Jerseys
Won all three Grand Tour Points Jerseys
World Road Race Champion
National Road Race Champion
Won a Monument
Track World Titles
Track National Titles

he is already the record holder of stage wins where a sprint is contested and I hope he wins many more the form he has now perhaps is as a result of some track work getting his edge back but its just so good to see the little fella dwarfed by the German giants bursting through to win on the line.
