Great win for Yates today in the tour of Turkey, precocious talent if ever there was. Froome showing great form in the Romandie as well.

Great result for Yates and nice to see Cav getting one back on Viviani too! Good to see Froome win the Tour de Romandie too (when did Uran learn to TT?!?!)

Quite looking forward to the Womens ToB this week, wont get a chance to see it but its a world class field

And then to California where Wiggo seems keen...

Anyone else just really not like Froome? No doubt he's impressive on a bike, but I just don't like him.

He's a bit dull - but name me someone at the top of their sport who isn't a bit dull.

Exception that proves the rule wink I would say Wiggins as well, but I would argue that he isn't at the very top (very good, but not very top).

For every Cav there is a Sebastian Vettel or a Steven Gerrard or a Jonny Wilkinson.

Nor is Cav judging by his results in and since last years Tour.

I don't know why the public expect top sportspeople to be fascinating, interesting individuals. For the vast majority of sportspeople, their lives are pretty dull - very structured training regime, minimal or no social life, very carefully controlled diet. Add to that the fact they need to be single-minded and very determined to rise to the top, and they don't have any time or spare energy to be the life and soul of the party interview.

The sparkling personalities are the exception, not what should be expected. Perhaps they'd be even better if they focused even more... wink

And yet, Cav last week said he and the team were ahead of where they wanted to be at this time of year. Of course, that could be media-management.

I hope he's correct, and has managed to step it up a notch from last year. Not sure how the Tour of Turkey is pitting himself against the finest riders though.

There were a few decent sprinters there.

The train was having trouble last year, and getting bullied a little and not holding it together. Hopefully they are starting to gel a bit

Hmm really? Like who? Vivianni is ok, but definitely second string.

Agree his train last year was pants. The addition of Renshaw and another 12 months should help in this respect. Of bigger concern was the fact that he got beaten in 2 (maybe 3?) straight up drag races at Le Tour. That has never happened in recent years, and was a big indicator that maybe he's past his best. Would love to be proved wrong of course.

Cav has admitted that sprinting has changed and the stumpy fellas like him who held a slight aero advantage compared to the giants like Gripel and Kittel are losing out now. Factor in Bouhanni, Sagan, Renshaw etc and it will be a tough tour for Cav.

as an aside, whats the latest on Team Alonso?

No Giro for Kennaugh - he's pulled out with illness.
