Suspicious values came from his time with Endura racing I think, for the life of me I don't know why Sky wanted to sign him as he was a rider always viewed with a degree of suspicion in the local British scene. So much for their attention to detail, anyway see you in two years cheating scummer.

Interesting quote at the bottom about Armstrong

BBC said:
A survey published by Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf this week claims that 12 of the 25 surviving winners of cycling's biggest race believe that Armstrong should be handed back his seven Tour de France titles.
sSems like an odd response from past winners, unless those 12 were doping too of course!

I guess they are of the opinion that as so much of the field was doping, what's the point in stripping LA of his titles. Difficult to reconcile with a "clean" sport though.

I guess if they stripped everyone down to the first cleanest person, that could be some way down..

Then why strip anyone at all? you may as well ban and leave them with the title. it either has to be totally clean or leave it be. surely?

That's what I mean - In a perverse way, if everyone was doping, it is still a level playing field, with everyone at the same level (ie doped up..). Just depends who got away with it the best, which seems to be most. If that makes sense..

As we have always known though, some teams were using doping techniques which were far more sophisticated than others and yielded far greater results so to say it was a "level playing field" because they were all doping is inaccurate.

It wasnt that easy to perform blood transfusions back in those days and keep the blood fresh and then make it available to use during a race so inevitably the teams or riders who had the most money could pull it off better than the rest. Most of the lower teams probably resorted to a mix of amphetamines and the more commonly available PEDs, but were unlikely to be doping.

its more accurate to say they were all cheating, some were doping, and one or two doping very efficiently but it certianly wsnt a level playing field.

OKgo called it....

With regards to the 90s, I am not convinced by the level playing field arguments. I once read a quote (can't remember who said it) that in the 60s, 70s and 80s etc, there were steroids and amphetamines etc etc, but it didn't matter so much because the right guy still won. However, EPO changed all that as EPO could turn a donkey into a racehorse. - not word for word, but something like that.

Also as the whole process got industrialised in the 90s - it was about how good your program was.

And flat out incorrect too.

lol @ JTL - who did he think he was fooling, his rides were no less odd than the wonder years, riding away from great climbers without even breathing etc hehe

It's odd given Brian Smith's well known stance on doping that he managed to do this at Endura. I'm enough of a believer in what BS did to be willing to accept he knew nothing about it. But he's no ones fool. All a little odd.

It does seem a little bit stupid to ask to be put on the Blood passport scheme when he didn't need to because of the level of team he was racing for. Unless his conscience wanted him to get caught.

Sky contract was in the offing (they may have been talking a while), being on the scheme may have been a requirement. He decides to risk it and hope for the best.

Absolutely ridiculous shape.

Surely that is a more simple test than all this blood passport malarky.

Just put JTL and Okgo in Richmond park on a sunday afternoon, winner gets their own bodyweight in wiggle haribo (important to make sure he really tries his best) .

If jTL isn't dropped by the time they pass the ice cream van, by definition he must be doping - NOONE beats Okgo down "barrel of beard" without either drugs or wind assistance...

hehe The Haribo factory had better get another shift organised if Okgo might win his weight in Tangfastics
