Champions again , great effort by the whole team. Sidebottom has taken something like 40 wickets at 17 unbelievable he is 37 its now his 5 title. Gale will be pleased he has planned this all winter and makes up for his run in with ECB ,who were pretty spiteful not letting him on the official celebrations. No real stand out players just all the guys chipping in. Not forgetting Dizzy who has really improved all the players across the board.
A really pleased Yorkshire man.

Sad to hear of the death of Brian Close this morning aged 84.
A cricketer who ad to face the full fire of the 1970's West Indian attack, he never backed down from the challenge. By all accounts as decent chap.
Indeed and was instrumental in Botham's rise to fame. A cricketer who ad to face the full fire of the 1970's West Indian attack, he never backed down from the challenge. By all accounts as decent chap.

What I particularly remember about Brian Close related to his golf and not his cricket. He played off 3 handicap left-handed and 5 handicap right-handed. He was challenged to a match by members of the press, playing alternate shots alternate ways, with the press caddying his two bags. He still shot a score in the mid-70s I recall. A complete all-round sportsman.

Sad news indeed , I'm old enough to remember him standing up to the most lethal fast bowling attack ever,A cricketer who ad to face the full fire of the 1970's West Indian attack, he never backed down from the challenge. By all accounts as decent chap.
Lets hope he's having a good old chat with Malcolm Marshall upstairs.
Very sad to hear , a Yorkshire great. Unreal to see him at 45 with no helmet taking on the WI attack in that clip. He was a great fielder took around 800 catches even a stumping. As he fielded alot at forward short leg he would tell Jimmy Binks the Yorkshire wicketkeeper to get ready for rebounds.
Even in his 60s at the Yorkshire academy he would be batting in the nets with no protective gear on. RIP
