wow - getting tense.
like chess not cricket.
do middlesex get 200 in front and give us the final session to knock 'em off? need enough time to bowl us out as well.....
it can't get to 20-20 as the fielding and bowling restrictions don't apply so I would say marginal advantage middlesex but its only marginal....
even with yorks going for it, a dead pitch might be a small advantage to those batting last....
weather permitting too.....

The bit I struggled with yesterday, was the argument about whether Middlesex were letting us get the runs in order to keep us in the chase as that was to their advantage. They were in reality trying their very best to roll us over for as few as possible.
Maybe looking at it too simplistically
Draw Somerset win.
Middlesex win, they are champions.
Yorkshire win, we are champions.
Then maybe I am just being a bit thick and don't get the possible strategies.
Regardless of how it ends we need to say a big thank you to Jason Gillespie.

That is spot on, comes down to the final afternoon (and probably final session) of the final game of the season. Amazing that some people still think the system is broken. At the other end, there are three teams battling to avoid the drop which one will suffer... not bad that six teams out of nine are still playing for aomething this late on. Draw Somerset win.

Come on Zummerset.

Question from a casual fan - if this game is a draw who will come second in the championship and does (if there is any) the prize money differ massively between second and third?
Middlesex will finish second to Somerset if its a draw. Re the financial side, I read somewhere it's about £15k a man but I have no sources for that.
It's actually a timed game, but a minimum number of overs must be bowled in a day's play. If Middlesex get a hurry on they could theoretically bowl more than the minimum of 40 if still within the scheduled close of play.
It has been somewhat contrived because a draw suits neither team and they both know it.

This whole thing leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. Sure you would expect the two captains to have come to some sort of arrangement between themselves but to do it in such a squalid and brazen manner just isn't cricket imo.
As for the actual target, get the Yorkshire captain to do our post brexit trade negotiations - I can't believe he got the Middx captain to agree to setting such a generous target.
I hope it rains and this ends in a draw.
