County season all done. LCCC relegated in a deciding march v Middlesex. Interested to hear others thoughts on the county game as it stands today. The gap between the first and second seems to be getting wider. Northamptonshire had a nightmare and looked one of the worst teams in the first division since the split. Leicestershire have now not won a 4 day game for 2 seasons. They seem to produce good young players but once they produce the goods they are gone a lot to Trent Bridge.
Chris Cairns has been charged with perjury. Interesting to see what is said at the trial.

Not been here for a while. Ongoing computer problems, but, James Vince scored more than 1500 runs for Hampshire in the County Championship. Which I think deserves recognition.

KP's book is out on tuesday. His confidentiality agreement has expired and he's no longer a contracted player at Surrey (he's 100% freelance) so the ECB's hands are tied now.

Yeah, my local bookshop emailed me this good news, I'm so looking forward to sitting on the beach reading this.

Could be explosive .

You know what, having read it, I'd certainly like to hear the other side. Looking forward to what Vaughany has to say in his column.

Confirming what most people suspected, KP is overly self absorbed. Matt Prior is a doos, and that Flower is a stats man with no feel for sport as entertainment.

Clearly KP has his detractors, Vaughan was probably the only person to get the best out of KP, the lack of leadership and man management at so called professional level is just amazing.

KP should never have been made captain, just ruined him, he is far too emotional to be a leader. No wonder Bell doesn't want the job, he has seen what happens when the machine spits you out the other end.

The Telegraph are running a live blog on this today.

Aggers has weighed in.

Any response to KP claim of bullying culture in England dressing room must come from ECB/coaches/players. Not a journo’s domain.

Over the next day or so we fill find a little more. Prior has been burned can't see him coming back. He has said on Twitter he will reply to what has been said. People who are in a clique rarely realise that they are. Making players who have dropped a catch apologise unless you were in the clique is nonsense. You can see why so many young players are in and out of the team. KP clearly wasn't faultless in all this , others have a share of the fallout of the last ashes to bare.

There's no doubt that the management hasn't been perfect for a while. Failing to learn lessons from Tresc and seeing Trott heading the same way, taking Swann on tour when he could no longer spin the ball and numerous other examples all point to some basics being missed.

But also, KP clearly needed some stability, and wanted his Wife to come on tour, who the hell are the management to tell him this isn't acceptable.

KP was a talented player but as a human being he is a self absorbed classless prick. He's undermined the coaches and his own team mates on numerous occasions and betrayed them completely over the text gate business and now this. He needs to be consigned to the dustbin of history like the rubbish he is.

I think you'll find a lot of the greats are exactly the same in any sport.

KP wasn't dropped in his prime. His Test career had been in steady decline for the last couple of seasons. Even if he wasn't such a divisive bloke he would probably only have had this season & next before he was retired.
All I can remember from his last dozen or so innings was him getting to 30-odd runs & trying to force the pace & slapping the ball straight down fielder's throats. Not really what you want from a "star" batsman when the team is in the st.

I've met and done business with many great sportsmen over the years. I can't remember one who behaved like Pietersen did. Apart from Boycott (who I've never met) I can't even think of another senior player who set out to undermine his team mates and coaches.

Have you met KP?

Reading Vaughan's column today I didn't get the impression he undermined anyone in that team...respect and undermining of players goes both ways.

Seriously? You don't feel that texting disparaging remaarks about your own captain to the opposition that you are currently playing is undermining your team?

Having a twitter account run by players in the dressing room disparaging you isn't undermining you? Like I said...goes both ways.

A public to the world twitter account vs. texts to mate who plays for another country...I know what I consider worse.

And now the ECB have leaked the dossier regarding KPs behaviour to cricinfo ffs. Cannot believe they've done that, it's amateur night.
