SL first game on tour struggling v Ireland 130/6. Interesting to see how England get on in this new era. They will be wanting a good show v Scotland to make a statement. I also caught abit of Durham v Yorks I thought Yorks batted on abit too long but we will see how Durham get on. What do you think of .Waqars appointment ?
They certainly have problems. I think the ECB can tinker too much with the domestic set up but then read articles like this http://www.espncricinfo.com/magazine/content/story... and think well its not that bad.
As for the selectors in and out it leads to this http://www.espncricinfo.com/Pakistan-v-sri-lanka-2...
Its probably one of many reasons why one game they could lose to a club side then the next hammer the best in the world.

Anyone see the catch today in the Yorkshire-Nottingham match yesterday?
Watched the game, catch of the season for me. Leicestershire were one of the worst fielding teams I have seen. The wicketkeeper was village green standard. Yorkshire were streets ahead in the fielding stakes. Bit disappointed Finch didn't tee off though. Challo said:
Squad released. No changes apart from Stokes coming in. No spin option apart from Ali so lets hope Cook actually gives him a few overs.
Anyone else that should have been in?? I dont follow country cricket that much.
England squad for first Test with India: Alastair Cook (Essex) (capt), Moeen Ali (Worcestershire), James Anderson (Lancashire), Gary Ballance (Yorkshire), Ian Bell (Warwickshire), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Chris Jordan (Sussex), Liam Plunkett (Yorkshire), Matt Prior (Sussex), Sam Robson (Middlesex), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Ben Stokes (Durham), Chris Woakes (Warwickshire)
I'm happy with that , even though we lost to SL. I don't want to go back to the 90s selection of bringing in flavour of the week , it will take quite a while to bed these players into international cricket. A lot of those players are just starting out let's give them a year or so to settle in. Anyone else that should have been in?? I dont follow country cricket that much.

Sanga adds another big score to 2014s total. He has already scored 4 centuries and averages 86 this year. SL must be worried trying to replace him ,jayawardene and Matthews. Jayawardene averages this year is 61 and Matthews is 91. I make them slight favourites v Pakistan.
Zimbabwe have started their first test match v decent opposition for a while and managed 248-9.

Swann thinks England can't win the WC he has a point about some of the odd selections that go on. Bopara has done well and isn't in the squad when he was at his worst he kept getting picked.Swann thought there are too many test players in the ODI squad. Vaughan thought the same and claimed it was the same when he was captain which begs the question why did it go on if it was known to be an issue. Vaughan was never much of a one day player , I remember watching him struggle v Bermuda in the WC . More interesting was the statistical way they approached games. Swann claimed that if England scored 239 or more they would win 72% of the time. They had set ideas how many should be scored at a certain time and this seemed to run the way the game was approached.
Yorkshire are closing in on their 32nd Championship 5 wickets tmw v Notts will do it. Nearly did it last year just ran out of steam the last couple of games. 9 of the 11 playing this game are from the academy all are eligible to play for England. The top 5 are pretty young eldest I think is 27. I'm told there are quite a few in the academy ready to step in the next year or two. It is a template for the other counties. Plenty of competition for places. Rafiq who I believe could have been Yorkshire captain is leaving , whoever he signs for has got a great player.
