As a question, why were there so few Aussie supporters at the final? Was the sale of tickets offered first to the locals and Oz fans later when it was all sold out? Little groups of five or six were shown as the match neared the end when it was obvious who was going to win, but the panoramic camera view was just a mass of blue.
The BCCI made it very hard to buy tickets..
Pretty much this. Chaotic organisation in general too. The fixture schedule was only released about 3 months before the competition began and then, unbelievably, some fixtures were rearranged with less than 2 months to go.

I’m guessing that final being in Ahmedabad and not one of the more established cricket cities like Mumbai or Kolkata made the travel and accommodation logistics more complicated for overseas visitors too. That the Barmy Army hardly bothered to arrange anything says something about the accessibility of the tournament I’d say.

Also Ahmedabad is in the “dry” state of Gujarat, so not exactly an enticing location for Aussie (and England) fans to spend their hard-earned in.

The problem with the tournament just gone was the lack of jeopardy in the group stages. Australia lost their first two matches and won. I had a spreadsheet running to calculate the math for England to qualify and it was a joke, we lose 3 on the bounce, but still arent mathematically out.

Would be better with smaller group stages, quarters, semis, final. Would probably force closer matches as teams would absolutely need wins to get through, plus it would put the st teams (like England) out of their misery sooner.
I would hold four tournaments per year. 16 teams, top 8 seeded. No pool stage, knockout only over eight days.

Still on top of course, but India have just lost 4 wickets in 8 balls. Wow. Or W0W0W00W if you like.

153-4 to 153-8.

Edit: 6 wickets in 11 deliveries!

Today is a good day - David Warner played his last test match.

A very talented batsman and fielder, but a bit of a st, and I'm glad he's gone.

I'm Australian, by the way, in case anyone thinks this is sour grapes.

I'm English.

Cannot say I'm sad to see him retire but he has had a great batting career , Sadly he has blotted his copybook on a few occasions .

I still think he was the main man in the sandpaper saga.

He was the instigator, and pressured / persuaded a newish player (Bancroft?) into doing the actual dirty work.

Can`t stand the bloke, especially since sandpapergate where, once he`d stopped crying and got recalled turned into Mr Nice Guy, smiling and being all matey with the opposition. It`s all fake, the man is an obnoxious, arrogant thug who should have never been allowed back.
I hope the full truth about what actually happened in 2018 comes out one day and he gets properly outed.
