Some strange selections, has Rogers done enough to be a WC of the year ?

County wise prior is back in the runs and Finn took a six for. Gives me some confidence England can turn themselves around.

It's not looking too good for Jonathan Trott at the minute. Out cheaply again yesterday, he can't seem to play the short ball. Got hit on the head and body before getting out on the hook. Worrying for his England
prospects

He has had a relapse and has taken an extended break from the game. In all honesty if his England career wasn't finished the first time it certainly is now. I can't see a way back he may finish from the game completely.
More positively some England players got runs and wickets at the last round of championship games. Cook got a century albeit in the second division. Finn got 8 wkts and Sam Robson scored some big runs.

A real shame. Makes Michael Vaughan look like a bit of a prat as well considering his comments.

We now have a new coach as Peter Moores comes back for another go at the top job. A better bet than Giles , Paul Fabrace is a good pick as assistant currently hard coach of SL. Whatever slim chance KP had of coming back is now gone.

Interesting that Oz and the Saffers are both on 123 Test points even though the Aussies had a fun little time with an England in meltdown.

Bizarre game in IPL KKR lost 6 wickets for 2 runs certainly that is a strange collapse.

SL first game on tour struggling v Ireland 130/6. Interesting to see how England get on in this new era. They will be wanting a good show v Scotland to make a statement. I also caught abit of Durham v Yorks I thought Yorks batted on abit too long but we will see how Durham get on. What do you think of .Waqars appointment ?

Good news for me on Waqar Younis getting the coaching job, hopefully he'll strengthen our bowling, Junaid Khan had a good time with the ball last year, hopefully Waqar can take him to the next level, and Umar Gul desperately needs to get his full form back.

Overall I feel Pakistan have a decent bowling attack, some good young fast bowlers coming through the ranks and with Waqar, one of the all time great pacers, hopefully settle in sweetly.

Pakistan's biggest concern is our batting, one day we're the best in the world, other days its like watching 10 year olds bat, no consistency, need to get rid of dud batsmen like Shoaib Malik.

The Sri Lanka series will be a make or break for Alastair Cook, the Ashes series went VERY VERY horrible, and so did the changing room politics. Cook needs to play positive cricket, no more negative bullst.

Pakistani cricket would progress far quicker if the politicians just stay out of it. A mate was telling me today when selectors and board members get sacked they go running to the courts and find a 'friendly' judge to try and overturn the sackings.

So the board chairman gets replaced, the new guy appoints the coach, selectors etc and then a court will overturn the original chairman's sacking so all the other positions are screwed too. A proper circus.

For example, this today:

And a few months ago:

They certainly have problems. I think the ECB can tinker too much with the domestic set up but then read articles like this http://www.espncricinfo.com/magazine/content/story... and think well its not that bad.
As for the selectors in and out it leads to this http://www.espncricinfo.com/Pakistan-v-sri-lanka-2...

Its probably one of many reasons why one game they could lose to a club side then the next hammer the best in the world.

Also the fact they cannot play at home must be bloody difficult. Some of their players will go through a whole career having never played a test or odi at home because I can't see cricket returning to Pakistan in the foreseeable future. When you read variius cricketing autobiographies former players always talk about the mental strain of being away from home for so long. Well I guess that's what it's like for Pakistani cricketers all the time.

Defo agree that politics is slowing down the progress of Pakistani cricket, its a piss take, and not playing at home has hurt big time, and the way things are going at the moment, I can't even see Pakistan playing in Pakistan at all, at times its unbelievably frustrating to be a Pak cricket fan.

T20 next week, kicks off with Worcestershire vs Durham, always enjoy the County T20 tournament.

England vs Scotland start delayed, but looks we will get a reduced match.

That's a bit of a blow, he's one of those stalwart players the Windies need right now. Watched him, as a young player, in the Leeward vs Windward battles of old.
