Just watched Swanny competing in Wales Rally GB on BT, bloody good programme and the old boy did really well. Good stuff!

Great knock from the Hammer of Justice. If we can bowl OK we should be in here.

Not a great start though, Aussie 74 - 0

Hope Captain Morgan will bring himself on for a few overs, At least he can bowl a maiden over.

The fundamental problem is, we think 300 is a good score in one day cricket.

It is a good score.

However, today we were probably 30 runs short

Not really. It's barely par. It's certainly not going to win us anything of note.

Got any facts to support this analysis ?

I will give you some

Since 2010 there have been 1304 ODI games

In only 134 of them have one team scored more than 300 runs. and in only around 20% of those games have the other team also scored 300+

If only it was played on paper wink

I don't entirely disagree, India have made 400+ three times, and of course on some wickets, 300 is weak. we should be looking 350+. Especially in tournament cricket in SA and Aus where the fast bouncy pitches make big scores possible.

But yes, I think we could win the world cup, but we need Broad to stop bowling pies in the slot, Finn to carry on bowling 90mph+ inswinger yorkers and Bell to keep swinging his mighty hammer of justice.

Then a massive a slice of luck.

Isn't it more that England only scored 59 runs in the last 10 overs that's the worrying thing!

Bopara, Buttler and Woakes is on paper a decent line up for lower order shennanigans. However I still think Hales is worth a go.

Maybe they got it wrong today, I suspect the desire to make a score and get in the WC team led to some conservative batting, and I didn't see the Aussie bowling it may have been decent.

Anyway, at the moment, we are on top. Another wicket and we should be home.

I don't know about on top...100 odd off 16 overs is all they need...and a batting PP to take.

Big wicket - in the balance now at 5 down. 84 needed off 12 overs. Need Smith really.

Same...having a run a ball required with 15 overs to go and wickets in hand is a piece of cake in modern ODI cricket.
