Well spank me silly and call me Diane. Think we have crumbled a bit there.
Yes appreciate the 100 off 15 overs should in theory be ok in ODI, but I would guess England would miss it more times than they get it.
Close at the end, but that is a match we should have taken. We just lack that last 10% of knowledge or professionalism to close these kind of games out.
Bad times.

Not really. It's barely par. It's certainly not going to win us anything of note.
Got any facts to support this analysis ? I will give you some
Since 2010 there have been 1304 ODI games
In only 134 of them have one team scored more than 300 runs. and in only around 20% of those games have the other team also scored 300+
You sure, sounds a bit ripe.

Seems as if Mohammed Amir could make a cricket comeback. The ICC are looking at if he could make an early return to domestic cricket. Mixed feelings on this he has served his time but this of thing goes against the fair play of the sport.
Wasn't he only 17 at the time? I think that's too young to understand that you can get dragged into bad situations by the more experienced guys in the team that should be leading you down the right path.spikeyhead said:

So, this was one of the 20% of 10%? So a 2% game?

I have no way of finding out how many times the first innings has been 300 or more, and it has been sucessfullly chasedYou sure, sounds a bit ripe.
I will look again on Cricinfo, but I can say for sure that since 2014 only 10% of matches have yielded a score of over 300.
OK
I can't get an answer out of statsguru
So a virtual pint, or 5 internet points to anyone who can answer this question.
In the WHOLE of ODI, since 1971, how many times has a team batting second chased down an 300+ score.
Or same question but since 5th Jan 2010.
Get your beard on...

Anyone watch Big Bash final? What a last over! Plenty of thrills and spills!
Absolutely loved The Big Bash this year. Top marks to the Aussies.
Agreed! Great final, and a fantastic tournament. About time we had an 8 city franchised T20 in the UK?Absolutely loved The Big Bash this year. Top marks to the Aussies.
Sadly until it does or the international calendar is changed to allow the England contracted players to play in the IPL/Big Bash I think England are going to really struggle. About the only sensible thing KP has said in the last few years is that it's the equivalent of not letting English footballers play in the Champions League.
I'd ditch the four day game and replace it with a single innings, test rules, three day competition. Focus the teams on performance with no second chances. Maybe even make it an 130 over each format.
I just don't believe the current four day format does anything to give us an edge in the Test arena, let alone pull punters in.
