It was an odd team selection , Treadwell played 4 FC games last season , yet Rashid took loads of wickets last year and is carrying drinks. As Ali is more than likely flying back for the 2nd test be interesting to see how they move the order around to fit him in.
He had an average game against Yorkshire with bat and ball. oilslick said:
Never mind England, I'm pleased to see that my native county have picked up where they left off last season and given Worcestershire a proper hammering despite half their first team carrying drinks in the Caribbean!
And sidebottom went off with an injury , a great performance , as a team they have played few FC games the future looks bright.DJRC said:
Ali is your spinner surely? (Even though he was picked for his batting skills initially!)
I forgot the introduction of Joss the Boss aswell and Chris Jordon.
So that is a fair change in the team, in fact it is over 50& change!
And the ever revolving face of the 2nd opener is something haven't solved I agree.
The only reason there has been any change is retirements. Strauss, Prior, Swann...if they hadn't retired they'd still be getting picked!I forgot the introduction of Joss the Boss aswell and Chris Jordon.

The only player dropped in recent times is KP who ironically was the highest scoring batsman.
You really have to question the wisdom of having two openers who are under MASSIVE personal pressure to perform for very different reasons. If you want to recall a guy that has been the best England No 3 for a generation and play him as an opener you need to be bloody sure it's the right decision.

Anyone watching this? Are they bowling well or are we reaching for silly shots / not concentrating!?
Jerome Taylor is bowling very well, and the rest are backing him. Bowling coach Curtley has got them well fired up. The run out was a complete farce. No excuse for it in Test cricket.

+1. IMO Cook is almost finished...So problems are Chef and Trott. Both out of knock and Trott has a deep technical flaw playing on an angle and not square. Ballance, Bell, Root and Stokes will all have made runs though. Joss the Boss needs some middle time again and Broad hasn't been the same batsman since Varun broke his face. As a bowling unit Broad looks good when he is pitching up and quick - no change there then. Jimmy looks like Jimmy, Jordan and Tredders loom in nick. Ali is strengthening the squad also.
