What do you do with Cook and the captaincy if he doesn't score?
I think the selectors will keep him in the job will after the Ashes. After this tour NZ and Aus come quickly so no time to change. You could drop Cook and make Bell Skipper but they wouldn't do it.

i think he should be dropped if he doesnt start performing...Ashes or not.....33 innings and counting without a hundred and basically he is fodder if you pitch it up on 4th stump line. the world know how to restrict his runs and get him out. He is a hopeless captain so it couldnt be worse trying someone else.

KP - supposedly did have a serious knee injury for a few yrs there which impacted his batting. He would need to score a lot of runs to get back in though.

I think if England win this series and Cook doesn't make any good scores, he'll still be in the team. If he doesn't back in form, Kiwi and Aussie bowlers will rip him apart...

That sounds like a fair prediction.

Three down, Smith running out of patience

Seven more to go before our first test win in a while. Will Anderson break Beefy's record? Will Chanderpaul see the WIndies through to close without breaking sweat?

Jimmy A, who has at times in his career been the world's best bowler in my opinion, gets the big record. Awesome Sir James, my hat is off.

KP debate is futile, it is a circus sideshow. KP is a great Batsman, but he isn't the future.

Cook s form is a big worry. I very much he rediscovers his judgement.

Good bowler when it is hooping miles on a green top. To be fair to him, he swings it both ways with great control. But he's never been one of the greats who can dig deep and win a match with an old ball on a dead track - very few can or could; but they are the greats. He's not really in the same league as Marshall, Holding, Lillee and the others.

Good achievement for an English player though. Be interesting to see how well he does in the Ashes.

I dunno spikey, it might be a good moment to have a little chat about the importance of winning.

It's been good to see some of the international players in English counties cricket though. The IPLs pointless bidding system is helping English cricket immensely hehe.

Management 101, praise in public, bk in private. Batting is so affected by confidence that doing something that makes your batsmen nervous is dumb.

It can also act as a motivation to the opposition, seeing that England don't rate them. I'd pin the article up in the dressing room, that'll get the lads going! hehe

Thought the declaration was a bit late. A lower target would have given England more overs and the Windies a sniff of a win and therefore riskier batting.
