I played this morning - fking horrendous front nine - 9 points!

Made up for it on the back nine with 22 points but still! 31 points with 4 blobs.

My driver has really gone off the boil since I had my old one stolen - just can't get to grips with the new one yet.

Had my first go with my new (used) G10s this weekend and I'm starting to be consitent with my stance and swing and was being fairly consistent with my shots.

I can see this being a long and frustrating, yet rewarding road.

41 points for me on Friday including 4 blobs, good enough for third. Probably the best I've ever played.

Has anyone played Green Monkey? I'm going out for the test match in April and wondered if it lives up to the hype.

Basic question. What do you mean by points and blobs?

Stableford points, based on your handicap and the stroke index given to each individual hole.

To have a blob is to play a hole badly and not get any points for that hole.

So when I say I've scored 31 points with 4 blobs, it means the 31 points have come from the remaining 14 holes.

Quite and when ManFromDelmonte in the post above says he got 41 points with 4 blobs and it was only good for third it means he's a bandit but that the guys he plays with are even bigger bandits laugh

Haha, I did feel a bit bandity handing my card in but to be fair I have only really taken the sport up seriously 3 months ago and had only shot under 100 a couple of times before (albeit in my last few rounds). I played really well on Friday. The new irons have made a big difference (as have the weekly lessons), I just need to get some half decent woods as my current ones are horrendous and really limit me.

The two people who did beat me were proper bandits though bandit

On a more interesting note, any hazard a guess what drivers I've been testing tonight based on the below video?

Yes it is shot the wrong way and only in 240 but there is a big hint in there if you look closely....

Removed as requested.
I've just watched that on my phone but I'm thinking Nike Vapor Pro. How did it go?

Half right, that's the Vapor Speed.

Hit both Pro and Speed (Vapor Flex not arriving until tomorrow), currently using the a Covert 2.0 Performance as I preferred that over the 2.0 Tour.

Pro head is not for me, the Speed is a monster. No launch data or distances but long, high, flat rippers that just carry and carry, even with range balls

Used the shaft out of the Pro in both heads, a 60 gram, stiff, S+ Diamana Blueboard.

I've carried the same shaft over from the first Covert into the 2.0, a UST Proforce V2, Stiff, 66 grams tipped an inch and it obviously feels less poker like than that, livelier but it worked well with the head.

Worldwide release is 1st of Feb, hoping to have one in the bag soon, going to try and get it back to back with my current driver on Trackman this weekend as well to check the numbers.

Definitely worth a try when Nike reps get their demos in, think you should be able to hit them end of Nov/early Dec.

The third head, the Vapor Flex has a movable weight like the Big Bertha Alpha, but front to back not top to bottom, will report back on that.
how'd you get your hands on it so early? do you work for nike? if so, need a mid handicap development tester to help you out? wink ha!

I don't work for them, one of my best mates does, unfortunately I have just had my wrist slapped for posting the video, so I am going to have to get the above deleted frown

Damn, I was going to freeze frame the 240p video and use it to make my own one.

Right, beginner/high handicapper returning to golf here. Bought the Deep Red set and really like them, but noticing that I am utterly atrocious with short pitches on to the green - where atrocious equals clearing the green and ending up the other side. the set has a PW and SW, but no LW. Any recommendations for a LW I could add which is quite forgiving but would give me something to work with?

A sand wedge is more than adequate for the task!

Google some videos from Mark Crossfield or similar.

Yup, agree with above, LW is not the answer, practice is.

Thirded. Thinning a LW gives basically exactly the same result as thinning a SW.

To Do List: Stop thinning!
