I went out yesterday too - beautiful day for it and 30 points which on a course I had not played before which I was pretty happy with smile

Saturday morning for me, with a hangover. Got a mauling despite playing quite well. Lovely golfing weather, albeit the greens had been collandered.

Game of 2 halfs for me, 11pts out 18 back. Putting was a disaster. Big stick still the best club in the bag

I thought I was bad at chipping...I have never seen anything quite like the performance of Tiger Woods at his own event on TV last night.

He duffed not 1, but 3 chips and hit them no more than 6 feet! He was a broken man, sad to see.

I'm afraid to say it but his days are over and he will never win another Major, he certainly doesn't have the length and judging on last nights performance he also doesn't have the short game. In an 18 man field he is in last at 5 over, 17th is on 1 over!

Really? I think you're miles off tbh!

He is 5 over with 4 duff chips, his swing looks great and I think you may be surprised next year smile

I don't care how good or bad he is. I just prefer him not to win as I think there are many better examples of human beings in the field whom I would rather see succeed.

That's fine, and for clarity he is no where near my favourite golfer.

Whatever happens though, it will be interesting smile

Agree - He 'was' so successful in his career because of the person he is/was - but his body has now given up and the technology allows others to catch up. That invincibility has disappeared.

I also have no time for people who spit massive greenies in full view - never forget the time he spat on the green in full HD...disgusting

I am happy to be proved wrong and would love to see him do well, but still reckon he will never win another major.

He was great, and will always go down as one of the greats.

Unfortunately I agree that injuries and age won't let him reach those heights again.

It's a shame as once I would have liked to see him overtake Jack Nicklaus. Now however, with all of his personal problems coming to light I have to say it's probably a good thing that he won't.

More worrying than his swing or his length seems to be his putting - once so good but now just poor.

I don't understand all the comments regarding his lack of length. How many others got anywhere near 17 in 2 yesterday? And did you see how far he hit it on 18 with a swing that looked remarkably balanced. His swing looks less contrived than it has done for a long time. He may not reach the heights he once did, but it won't be long before hes back up near the top of the world rankings.

Remember it wasn't too long ago when people said he would never win again and he won 5 big tournaments in the same season.

I agree with the commentators that his short game, both chipping and putting, was just 'rust' from not playing. The swing looked pretty good. Much better than it's been for a long time. I wouldn't be surprised if he starts to contend again once he's match fit. However, winning another major could be very difficult owing to the number of great young players that we have now who won't be intimidated by his presence at the top of the leader board.

you do have a point there, i didn't get to see many of his tee shots, but i did notice there was a fair amount of venom in his swing on 18, so maybe he can mix it with the big boys.

You're right Duncan.

Wildly speculative statement about the best golfer of the modern era.

Aside from one hole he's played an excellent 2nd round and anyone writing him off for ever doesn't know their wedges from their woods.

He's not perfect and some of his course behaviour is questionable but he's done more for golf as we know it today than almost anyone.

That's why we've got a nearly a whole page devoted to him without a single other player being mentioned.

As an aside hasn't Patrick Reed's wife brushed up well after having the baby smile

Awesome post is awesome biggrin

Reed played great too, fair play to him.

Tiger will win the Masters or be close next year, swing looks great!

Came 4th in the Christmas Cup yesterday. Played pretty well considering the wind - 32 points.

However, it was again a case of what could have been, as I had 5 blobs on the card frown

Good fun though.

Played yesterday with Yellow balls as fairways were frosty. How many clubs have shifted to Winter Greens?
Here near Paris there is a mixture of very well prepared Winter Greens but also a couple of Buckets buried in the fairway.
Not had to play on any yet

We don't have any winter tees or winter greens.

We are lucky to have a piece of land that drains freakishly well - got to love links golf!
