Yep, they are pretty light. The traction you get is incredible - so much grip. Very comfortable.

I love the cleat right under the big toe.

Yeah the video is funny!

Planned my first full round tomorrow at Coventry Golf Club, have a friend who's been badgering me to go for some time.

Weather looks reasonable, not sure how it'll be underfoot, but I shall report back!

Had our society AGM today, followed by 18 holes.

Won the day with 30 points off 16, tough conditions and a pretty bad course in wet and horrible muddy conditions.

Still, won £30!

Muddy! Its been frosty all day today. Real lottery as to how big of a leap your ball took when hitting greens. Walked away with 26 points for 14 holes. Playing off 4 over the winter it'll be very hard to win any comps but striking the ball well so can't complain too much.

Just chucked an Ping i3 2 iron into the bag. Absolute laser hitter. New favourite club off the tee.

Playing in the mist this morning. Couldn't see where the ball went of the tee and could only just make out the flag from 135 metres. Had to make an arrangement with our other group following to give them a whistle when we were clear.

Just bought myself an early Christmas present - a couple more Mizuno MP R-12 wedges. I already have the 60 degree but now have the 52 and the 56 on their way. My current wedge set-up is the 60 and an old Ping Tour 54 and I did feel that I would benefit from smaller gaps between them. I also had pretty low bounce on both which didn't help out of the sand. I've gone for the 13 degree option in the 54.

Very shiny.

I also have a general question about putter fitting. Has anyone had this? I was going to buy my next putter purely based on looks, price and a quick knock about with it. After popping in to American Golf and using their Odyssey eyeFit system I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on how much difference there is between the four options it recommends.

So this forum is for all things golf , here's one for golf fans .
About ten years ago my mate in our regular Sunday four brought his eight year old daughter along and she played instead of him off 36.
This year she won the European order of merit aged 18 .
Awesome. smile

Dave Hull by any chance...

I caddied for his daughter at the Turkish Open in Belek in May 2012.

Charley was still an amateur at the time and finished 4 shots off the winner with a score of -1.

I was only supposed to be Marshalling for the week , ended up being asked if I'd like to Caddy by the English Pro at the club.
I did the 2 practise days , the Pro-Am and then the 4 days of the tournament.....it was a fantastic experience.

She is a fantastic talent and will only get better.

On a similar note, keep an eye -and indeed look up - a lovely young girl by the name of Anna McKay who plays out of Crail Golfing Society. One to keep an eye on, only 10 years old. Her brother Ben is a mightily talented player too. Two for the future hopefully

Played at Dale Hill today, a very frustrating 30 points with yet another 5 blobs on the card.

Terrible putting!

Consider yourself lucky, ours has been closed due to the snow. Its been lovely weather yesterday and today, bloody typical. Having to look at going north for our normal New years day round.

Please take this suggestion in the good faith with which it is intended.

5 blobs is a disaster. It suggests you're playing only for the very best possible result on each hole. Instead of the best possible result for the round as a whole.

I'd humbly suggest, next time out, play for a no-blob round. Play with no regard at all to making gross pars and birdies.

A no-blob round is a much more impressive achievement than 36 points with a smattering of blobs.

It requires a lot more discipline and technical course management of you than the smash-it-find-it-smash-it-again style that 5 blobs suggests.

IMO smile

In fairness to myself, I'm not a smash it, find it, smash it again player. I don't go for Hollywood shots and definitely take my medicine when required.

3 of the blobs were down to putting, another was down to a seemingly good looking shot disappearing (plugged in the mud somewhere and with a 3 ball close behind us I couldn't go back to hit another).

Only 1 hole was a blob from poor play and that was a tough approach shot (ball well below feet in the rough) that I put into a ditch, the resulting drop and then fluffing my chip into a bunker! Managed a decent enough bunker shot but then putter let me down so missed the point.

Mainly it's my putting letting me down.

For example, the last 6 holes I found all fairways and greens in regulation and yet managed to have 15 putts.

Fair enough then. You sound like a good candidate to join my campaign to have putting spun-off into a different sport entirely that I don't have to play!

Golf would then involve getting the ball inside a 15 foot circle around the flag, picking it up, and walking happily off to the next tee!

I am going to take the above advise though. I am the smash it, find it, smash it , try a Holywood shot and not take my medicine type of golfer.
If I rein it in I am sure my scores will improve.

Jim! This has been touted before and could well make the sport quicker.

Typically desired by great/good ball strikers smile
