Some nice golf lined up this week.

St Georges Hill tomorrow with some suppliers - played 27 holes there last year, just the 18 holes tomorrow (no idea which ones). Then Hanbury Manor on Saturday in preparation for my mate playing there in the Trilby later this year. Fingers crossed for the weather.

I just hope I can put 2 x 9's together soon. Played twice last week - First round had 22 on the front, and 11 on the back, and then Second rond had 12 on the front and 21 on the back at my local course! Stupid game!

Played yesterday with a friend and over the last 4 weeks my tee shots have been terrible.

http://www.golfpadgps.com/view?round=RCEM6D&ut...

Here's my score card. The week before I went round in 83.

No mater what I tried yesterday I couldn't hit a wood from the tee. I dropped 3 shots on the 2nd and 2 on the 3rd hole. The 18 as well sunk me as well.

I am looking at these driving nets. Where you practice in the garden driving the ball into these nets. Has anyone had any experience with these?

Any tips on how to get my tee shots back? Short play was my savour yesterday..

Its my birthday next week and I have a feeling the wife is booking me 10 lessons...

Thanks
N
What's the problem shot with your drives? slice? hook?

Most likely a grip issue, or swing path.

Check out Mark Crossfeilds videos on youtube there's a lot of driving videos out there.

I used to suffer a terrible slice, My pro changed my grip slightly, taught me to basically loosen up all over and try and hit with my mouth open (relaxes my upper body)
I've been watching 'Golf fix' on TV with Michael Breed, he's a bit energizer bunny but some of the simple tips are very helpful.

Just be careful not to overload with too many thoughts about, arms, legs, posture, grip, head, chest, line, follow through, pose, feet etc etc etc - it can spoil a nice day out.

As a freiend told me "Try to keep the amount of thoughts you have during your backswing under 300"

It's a beautiful afternoon - I might go down the club tonight and hit a few balls on the practice ground smile

I've replaced my range sessions recently with sneaky trips to the parkland near my house, just a wedge and a handful of old balls. There really is no substitute for hitting off grass, quite pleased with my divot patterns and ball flight too.

I agree - luckily my club range/practice ground is beautiful turf. Not a mat in sight!

Does anyone have any experience with the Garmin G3 or G5 golf GPS?

I can't use my iPhone app anymore (GolfShot - which is excellent) because my club is so strict when it comes to mobile phones on the course.

I don't like wearing a watch when I play so that rules out the watch based GPS.

The G3 is only £99 now (and there are some G3's and G5's on eBay that are cheaper than that).

Any info would be great.

Many thanks!

Still getting back into it after 18 months or so without touching the clubs.

Couple of rounds in the last couple of weeks & a few visits to the range.

New irons are a revelation, so much more forgiving, i'm so much better of the ground now.

Short play needs some serious work, and i'm inconsistent with the driver.

Enjoying being back out in the sunshine though.

I'm in need of some new wedges. Vokeys seem to be the go-to choice but i'd like to pick up a second hand set (52 and a 60).

Any others worth considering? I've been playing Mizuno wedges for a few years now but bent one so may as well just buy a new pair.

Another weekend off the course frown

Caused in part by me being car-less currently (in having a gearbox rebuilt and a few other odd jobs done) and a day at the races (Sandown I think) tomorrow smile

I wouldn't buy second hand wedges tbh, they get the most grief and need replacing more often.

For £11 you could give these a go? True Temper Dynamic gold shafts, reckon they could be an absolute bargain.

I won a immaculate Cleeveland 888 60 wedge for £28 on eBay a few weeks ago.

I've just watched Keegan Bradley hit a fairway wood from a fairway bunker and nearly get an albatross on a par 5.

A 3' putt for eagle.

Stunning shot!

Another vote for Cleveland wedges - I bought a used 50/56/60 degree set of CG15's for about £80 and they're beautiful things to use.

Yes!!

230yds!!!!!

Who's this Ben Martin chap then?

Shoots a 10 under first round and breaks the course record and follows it up with a 5 under including 3 bogeys.

Would've been 1000/1 for the win two days ago, now at 2/1.

Can he do it?

There must be an American golf nearby? It's likely they'll have a shot tracking system if some description.

Ensure the machine is 'tuned' to zero - lots of talk of them being adjustable in order to flatter the user - 200yd 7 iron etc.

Been doing some research this weekend. I currently have mizuno r series wedges and I do love them. Think I'll replace the bent 52 with another one and maybe throw a 56 into the mix too as my bag is currently a club short.
