Been doing some research this weekend. I currently have mizuno r series wedges and I do love them. Think I'll replace the bent 52 with another one and maybe throw a 56 into the mix too as my bag is currently a club short.
Can't you just get a new shaft put in the old head?

Disappointed to card a 92 this morning. Putted poorly, leaving several birdie/par putts well short, and struggled to find the greens consistently with approach shots.

It's a shame, as after the third hole where I pulled one OOB, and was saved from the same fate with the 2nd drive by a tree ricochet, I was driving beautifully. Consistently long, leaving myself good shots in.

I've got to improve my chip and run shots too. I'm leaving most of them well short, and duffed a couple so I could easily pick up a few shots by working on that.

It looks like the actual head / hozel part is actually bent rather than the shaft. I'll see what the pro says.

Oh, definitely. I'll start spraying it around like a mad man and holing chips for double bogeys.

I've become a bit of an obsessive lately. I think I'd be playing every day if I could. What I'm worried about though is one of my friends has started joining us recently. He started out at around 125 shots but has improved rapidly round on round. He's played half a dozen rounds now and got down to 106 this morning. It's nice to see him improving, but I'm secretly hoping he stalls a bit getting below 100 so he doesn't catch me too soon!

How the hell have you managed that? Did you clatter something on a shot.

Yeah. 90 / 100 yard chip in from some pretty extreme rough. There was a boulder hidden by a leaf that I hadn't cleared so I hit that instead of the ball. Gutted really as it was my own fault for not checking.

I changed my irons last year to Ping i20s. Although they hit beautifully i've found it difficult adapting to the lengths as they hit considerably longer than my old ISI-Ks. Just bear this in mind if you do change.

I played Hanbury Manor on Saturday. A nice course. The purpose of the round was to get a mate familiar with the course, as he is playing in the Trilby tour there later this year. They have the standard Red and Yellow tees, and then the Whites are members only tees, and then the blues for championship. The members tee and blue tees will be used within the Trilby, so we decided (despite the warning that the 3 others playing off 18 would struggle due to the length) to play off blues so my mate will not play it any longer than it was.

I was pleased that all 4 of us cleared the water on 14 and 18 (200 yard carry on both from the blues), but the score card did not make pretty reading! I had 26 points, one mate had 17, the other 20, and the Trilby player 34.

I consoled myself that at 1000yards longer from the blues to the yellows, it was like two par 5's. So 10 shots, and that made my handicap !! wink

In all seriousness my chipping let me down so badly. I used to play like a 5 handicapper around the greens, and like a 28 handicapper off the tee. I am now playing like a 18 handicapper everywhere, and it is so disappointing. Off the tee is so much better, yet chipping is so much worse. As said above, I just need it all to come together more consistently.

Unless you are a member (or I believe playing with members) you will enjoy it more off of the yellows! The whites are probably the perfect length - but blues were very long.

Have you played there before?

No I haven't a couple of the chaps i'm playing with have though, its supposed to be a nice course isn't it? We are playing a couple of rounds there (staying in the hotel) and plan to play off the yellows.

Firstly yes - it is a nice course. Quite well thought out, and very fair. I understand the front 9t 9 is the new 9, and is very open. The back 9 is original 9 and requires a bit more thinking, and is a bit tighter. Will be much more fun off the yellows where you can enjoy it, rather than having to smash everything at the greens.

A bit of free advice.

Pick your most consistent club between 80 and 150 yards and try and make all pitches from that distance. The greens will stick. I don't get much backspin, but even I could make the ball stop within a dustbin lid from where it pitched. Don't do what I tried to do the first few holes, which was chipping and running, or getting close to the green and lobbing the ball on - the ball will overrun the green every time. Took me a while to realize that - hence my 10 points on front and 16 on back!

I played my 1st round of the year on Sunday. Wow, 7 months without playing really opens your eyes. I shot 105 around the Kings Course at The Warwickshire. frown
The 9 on the par 3 over the lake with 3 balls in the drink probably didn't help my cause though! laugh

I've done that. I'd only bought the wedge a few weeks before hit a huge rock on the toe and made a right mess of it. Bin was the only option.

If you think it's bent get rid of it. Take the shaft out so you have a spare just warm the neck up with a blow torch and pull it out they are only held in with glue.

Well, I think I/we won Saturday's 'best ball' tournament - still waiting to hear officially because I didn't stick around for the results (V8 Supercars on tv, priorities and all).

It was a drawn pairs, best ball (best stableford score of your pair used) game, I played with the ex-club President and out of our 45 stableford points 43 were his and despite his crippling emphysema he shot a 3 over par 74 off of a 9 handicap in very mushy conditions.

I shot an awful 19 over par 90, can't remember playing even one decent shot and feel embarrassed to get first place.

I've not played for years. Decided to go for a round so just got my trusty weapons out to give them a clean.

Need some new grips anyone recommend something similar to a tour pride half chord or can you still get them ? Tempted to get some different clubs tbh starting again isn't going to be easy with blades especially as I won't be playing much.

How's this for a cheeky sweet spot.

Crikey, I'd need a Dremel to make my clubs look like that.
