looking at the fees to join the club I like the most would pay its way as a mid week round is £28 so the offer that’s on for a 7 day membership at £795 reduced from £895 and a suspended joining fee is good value for money, the issue I have at the moment is I like to play various courses at the moment whilst I'm still at a high handicap (20) I think until my handicap drops to 10-15 I want to play in different situations hopefully making me a better player, I'm still having lessons and have seen a big change in my swing with better ball flight and lower scores so the £800 will go to game improvements as and when I need them.
Would be nice if Piston Heads could run a Golf day once a year nice cars, Golf and a good meal.
I am happy to put on a PH annual golf day. Nice to see how creative everyone gets to bringing clubs with them if they have little sport cars!Would be nice if Piston Heads could run a Golf day once a year nice cars, Golf and a good meal.
Were are in East Yorkshire, so not central at all. The PH crew have been providing lost of great advice and I think we will be in good from 3 months hence.
If there is an appetite then delighted to do something?

Clubs packed for a long weekend playing golf in Belek, flying out Thursday with 7 mates, playing the following courses
Nobilis
Carya
Gloria New Course
Cornelia (Faldo) Prince Course
This will be our 5th time in Belek, great courses and lots of drinking, all crammed into 4 days
IMO - this is the best place on earth for golf ( for the money) I am so jealous!Nobilis

you get all inclusive hotel, walk across the road to some of the best golf courses, walk back to hotel, dip in the pool, fine food, then fight your way past the Russians at the bar! The only problem with the Turkey is the heat.
I went to Belek once on a family holiday and was so gutted that I didn't take my clubs but was lucky enough to play the PGA national there - great course. The Montgomerie also looked amazing!
enjoy

How much all in per person, Snowy?
We have booked the Hotel and Golf with Bilyanagolf, (http://www.bilyanagolf.com/) staying at the Cornelia diamonds 5 star all-inclusive hotel (http://golfturkey.com/hotels/cornelia-diamond-golf-resort-and-spa.htm) the Hotel & Golf was £595, plus flights on top which, if you book with easy jet as soon as the flights are available, the flights with golf club carriage was £202, so all in about £800.How much all in per person, Snowy?
As said by other people this is one of the best places to go and play golf and you cannot beat it for value for money, superb golf course, and excellent all inclusive hotels
But don't tell everyone or it will get to busy

Just been on a launch monitor...
Swing speed average 115mph. I was spinning it up to 8000 with my R flex driver... hit an SLDR stiff and only got it down to 5000.
Also face is open and at impact I'm 22 degrees closed... Not very happy
115mph is tour speed and you're using an R flex!Swing speed average 115mph. I was spinning it up to 8000 with my R flex driver... hit an SLDR stiff and only got it down to 5000.

Face open and 22 deg closed doesn't compute, what's you miss typically?
Swinging fast is a good start
Yep my bad shot is a big big Slice!
It's obviously a very inefficient swing and also pretty bad. I had been having lessons but am now going to change pros and go see the one who fitted me with my clubs last year and get some advice from him. Have also bought a stiff shaft for the driver.
I'm a bit down about it all really - I thought my swing was improving but it is obviously quite badly wrong

I think that when ever you have lessons you get worse before you get better, I know I did but that’s just how it is.
You correct one fault and another appears I'm having a block of lessons totalling three hours with each lesson lasting around 30/45 minutes with a 3/4 week gap between sessions.
I really want to get on Trackman to see what kind of numbers I'm chucking out then I'm going to get fitted with a new set of irons but only when I have a more complete swing Titleist Ap2's or similar.

I'd suggest when the face is closed, its actually squarer to your swing path, so ball starts left and/or goes left. The big slice comes in when the face is open to the swing path, but actually squarer to the target line. It's obviously a very inefficient swing and also pretty bad. If your swing path is out to in, AND the face is "closed" relative to the target line, its squarer to the swing path so you'll hit a straighter shot, but it'll be straight left.
No idea on your grip or swing, but Id further postulate you're probably trying to "hit" the ball instead of swinging through it and the right hand is coming into play too much and inconsistently.
Do any of you watch 'Playing Lessons' with Holly Sondero?
Firstly, to save you googling, no, her boobs aren't real and once you've got passed that stage you'll pick up some of the most helpful tips from the pros that appear on her show I've ever come across. Every episode has 3 or 4 great tips - trust me you'll want pen and paper ready.
Last episode, Matt Kuchar and soft hands: We've all been told to use 'soft hands' (ie: not grip the shaft too tightly) but do you actually put it into practice? Yesterday I did and not only did I swing more easily but the ball was straighter and longer than normal, it's the most effective 'fix' I've ever used and I combined it with Kevin Streelman's tip of always playing one club bigger than normal and always putting to go above the cup - what a difference ! !
After 15 holes I was sitting on 61 strokes playing off an 18 handicap, pars on the last 3 holes would have given me a 2 over round of 73 - yes, yes, I blew out on the last three and ended up with a 9 over 80, still 9 under handicap though.
Oh, one last thing - balls:
I've used everything except Pro V's (I tend to lose a lot and they cost £££) but I was given a dozen well used Pro V1's and no other ball has come close for feel, consistency, extraordinary backspin and amazing durability - forget new ones, if you lose a lot then pick up some cheap used ones (I now pay 30p each used vs £4 each new) and give them a try

Where are you picking used pro v1 up for 30p? They're usually about £1 a ball on eBay HaplessBoyLard said:
