I have an R11S driver , I couldn't get in with the mini-driver at all - although it was an M'Flex (senior shaft) 16 degree.
Must say I really liked the look of the club whilst addressing the ball.

One of the mates has never been able to hit a driver, the mini driver has had an immediate impact , he shot his best ever score over 9 holes last week using the club - totally transformed his game......the senior shaft obviously worked for him and he's only 42 smile

Make sure you choose the right shaft , degree of loft - basically it's worth hitting a few balls with a few different variations of the club.

Anyone think these are a good price? I don't know much about the ping dot colours, would it be best dropping into American Golf or similar to find which colour is best for me? Or would just the standard black dot be ok?

I've just sold a set of black dot G10's for £220 on eBay. I paid £190 for them 9 months ago. Hated the damn things. Have you hit some before?

No, they were recommended as they are meant to be quite forgiving! Might be an idea if I just go to american golf and see what's what.

I bought mine blind upon recommendations of them being forgiving.
That they maybe but I hated the look of them.

Went to AG and fell in love with some TM speedblades. Hit them and some Mizuno JPX.

Love my Speedblades!

I've got a lovely Taylormade R1 driver just a shame I cant hit the dame thing I lose about 8 shots a round of the tee then a few more if I do stay in bounds but I end up with a horrible lie.
lesson next week is all driver hopefully the improvement starts after that.
Bloody game!

Interesting. I was just going to buy a second hand 14degree with regular flex shaft off eBay.
Just the same as my normal 3 wood?

Shot 93 yesterday, which isn't bad considering I was puking up the wine from the night before an hour before teeing off!!!

Short game was excellent - my chipping was good and bunker player excellent (4 bunker shots, 4 up and downs).

Just let myself down off the tee really.

Nice game though - even with a banging headache and dodgy hang-over guts hehe

Oh and a well done to Justin Rose - really showing some great form at the moment.

Let's see if can do a hat-trick and win the Open this week.

One of my favourite players (along with Luuuuke).

Says I need a silver dot. Will pop to American Golf at some point this week and get it done properly.

Aaaarrrgh, too much backspin ! !

I use Pro V1's, I love them, consistent, durable and reliable but in softer conditions they often spin back 30+ft right off of the green and I'm left with a chip or off the green putt, not ideal.

I don't want to change balls, nothing else I've tried comes close, what would you do? Less aggressive swing? Land the ball short with an abbreviated follow through? Use a longer club?

Rory Mcilroy recently said "I'm learning to stop spinning the ball so much", lofty company aside (I'm more big John daly than Rory) how do you stop this happening?

Try the Srixon ZStar X or the Bridgestone B330. Both excellent - I prefer them to the Titleist and I say that as a huge Titleist fan (despite what I just said I use ProV too.....)

I'd say try the Pro V1X - not as soft so shouldn't grip as much?

I think I'll try this Rosscow, I'm playing a round with my greenkeeper on Friday, he's a scratch player and you've reminded me that he mentioned using harder balls for softer conditions.

Last 4 rounds have been;

103,
106,
108,
105.

So at least I'm starting to be consistent... Consistently rubbish.

I was shooting much more, but since giving up trying to use the driver I'm normally not in as much trouble off the tee. Really ruins yours game taking every second shot from knee deep rough biggrin

I'm going to sell my R11s driver and buy a TM mini driver instead.

Has anyone on here got one? How have you got on with it?

Looking at joining a club now as well. Played all my local ones (apart from one which I'm playing next week) and one stands out above the others.

£500 joining fee and £1100 per year fee's. Terribly addictive and expensive game this!
I have owned a TaylorMade MiniDriver for a few weeks. It is 14 degree loft, and it is a cracking club.
More forgiving than my RBZ Driver, and you can absolutely nut it down the fairway with the MD. I recommend it if you are struggling a bit with your driver.

If anyone's looking for a new ball to try I can heartily recommend Nike 20XI's if you can still find some (I got 24 for £40 earlier in the season). If not one from the RZN range should be excellent. They knocked Pro V1's to my knockabout ball - seem to have a crisper feel and easier to control the spin on them.

Only caveat to this is I'm using pretty much 100% Nike Clubs (Covert Driver, Original Blade 1-PW, SV wedges), so YMMV. I wouldn't use anything else now, however.
