Anyway the point being golf is a lot to do with your state of mind. In matchplay you have a lot more control over this because you can see how well or bad others are playing - use that as a training ground.

Couldn't agree more. played today & started bogey then 9...on a par 5 i'd usually par if not birdie...maybe the odd bogey there at worst..but hitting two drivers straight right OOB then having to hit a 3 wood off the tee to make sure i was in play so that i could finish the hole would of normally badly affected me...but i carried on, making sure that my mentality was...'that holes gone, nothing can change it now'. I made a bunch of bogeys with a few pars and ended with a front 9 of 10 over par...which i wasn't too disappointed by, considering the 9 on the card. Followed that up with a 4 over back 9...if i'd let that 9 get inside my head and dwelled on it for the next 3 or 4 holes, i probably wouldn't have even broken 100 today. Happy days! Can't wait for the next round now!!

Well, that's my season as good as finished.

Last night some absolute bd broke into my van and stole all of my golf gear.

Absolutely gutted. The whole lot, bag, trolley, and everything in it. GPS watch, new irons, new wedges, waterproofs, etc.

Gutted.

Let's see what I can get out of my insurance company.

That sucks! Do you have golf insurance?

If not, get onto both your van insurers and your home insurers...you should be able to get the majority replaced under one or the other! There are some absolute scum bags out there! Good luck!

That sucks, obviously keep an eye on ebay and gumtree.

Always worry when I have to leave my clubs in the car even for a short while - I'd be devastated.

Came very very close to beating 90 for the first time and had to pinch myself after the first 9...

Beadlow Manor, Baroness course. Previous best was 101 IIRC.

One 3 wood straight into a lake and an approach found a water hazard, but 2 lost is a new low. The 3 putt on the 17th was a disaster after a good 270 yard drive.

And looking over it, hole 8 was actually a par, so 40 on the front nine followed by 51 on the back.

Sorry to hear that Rosscow - I hope you get it sorted and get back to the game you love as soon as possible.

Well done Sir thumbup

Matchplay is my favourite part of golf. I love it and what I was always best at. Im very competitive so revel in the thought of going head to head with someone and had a great playing partner for doubles.

Actually this is what hit home and made me realise how of how golf gets into your and other peoples heads like we were saying above.

I was about 15 / 16 at the time I was playing a matchplay comp round against a fella off 15 I was off 9 at the time. I will never forget this game.

The bloke I played was a pretty good player, a bit of a well known bandit. I thought id have a big job on to beat him tbh. He was probably about the same std if rumours were true, even though the handicaps didn't reflect that. First tee, hard ground and wind assist I smacked it onto the front fringe with my driver 340 yards ish, He was 100 yards back.

That single shot lost him the game, I won the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th hole.
Lordy !

Horrible ! Sorry to hear that.

This happened to a friend of mine last year (kit all stolen after finishing playing at Foxhills in Surrey), dig up receipts if you have them for any of the gear that has been stolen - if not then contact your bank for debit/credit card statements maybe ?
Any photos of goods stolen will help verify what you had for insurance purposes. Hopefully you have at least one photo of you with all your golf gear in the background maybe standing on a 1st tee somewhere (This really helped my friend last year).

The Pro at his home club was able to help him price up what had gone...very happy in the end, he had a better set of clubs, new putter - he couldn't putt with the old one anyway smile A new trolley and a later model GPS gadget. The Pro at his club was able to help him price up what he had lost etc....

Good luck and in the meantime borrow a few demo clubs from your friendly Pro.

Guess that green!! I took a detour after the shopping trip with the misses as I'm going to book a weekend here and thought the place looked amazing.
If you have played here is it as good as it looks?

3 golf course under one club in east Anglia

If your not straight off the tee its not the place for you!

I played the Dukes and Duchess and god they were tight...I did get to point where they all looked like narrow corridors and had to check the tee markers to ensure I was on the correct hole.

So ive just re-joined my old club after a 7year absence and having played a handful of times since! Practice is definitely needed and I hopefully I get to start from scratch handicap wise. I was playing off 10 previously but going to be a fair way off that for a while I feel!

Starting lessons on saturday after realising my game needs some tidying up.

Hoping it sorts out what could be a half decent game with some help.

Hitting a consistant shot is the dream.

I hit a fairly straight shot, although I would love to play every shot from the fairway I know just being at a course like this playing golf will be enjoyable no matter the lie

I played there earlier this year. To be honest it was very wet, but the week before it was shut due to the weather. I would go back and I played poorly.
If you are relatively straight off the tee you could tear it up.
Seemed very much like target golf.

I am so hacked off (pardon the pun) with my game at the minute.

Played Ryton Golf Course a few weeks ago and admittedly 13 (or so) of the holes were OOB on the right and i have a tendency to slice but come on, i played dreadful.

My HC has been coming down consistently since May and then BAM! its all gone Pete Tong.

My reasons for being hacked off other than playing garbage? I went to the range today and hit everything - and i mean EVERYTHING - pure, straight and true.

Played this evening and frankly, if it wasn't for the fact i had to leave early, i would have walked off.

Driving is back to the slice-tastic ways of before.
Irons are so inconsistent - topped an 8 iron off the tee and then hit PW to 6 feet on a par 3.
Short game - inconsistent, apart from thinning a lot.

Only my putting is good. Ok, good might be over egging the pudding but once on the green, it's rare (once a round at most) that i 3 putt.

I've been so consistent recently and saw round after round of cuts to my HC and now i can't hit a cows arse with a banjo.

I've delayed it for so long but now i think it's time for a lesson.

It goes like that for everyone, you cant play well all the time. Keep your chin up.

Well, I've got £1000 less excess so £900 to try and get as much as possible.

Scor are replacing my wedges and have given me another €75 dollars off which was nice of them.

I'm hoping that my Pro will replace my i25's at cost price for me.

Things like trolley, bag, etc. I'm going to have to try and get on eBay.

I can use my Dad's driver and putter for a while as he doesn't play much anymore.

So I'll just get as much as I can on top of my irons and wedges and then I guess Christmas is coming!

I've decided to keep a video log of my Golf progression and thought for kicks I would upload to YouTube as I can’t access my swing via GASP due to my instructor not having registered for that facility frown I play off 20 unofficially, but I take that with a pinch of salt as I can have some really shocking rounds lately I have really seen some lower scores.
I would be interested in what you guys think I'm practicing with my Taylormade R1 Driver
