This is the new 'Tour Series' bag, it's bloody lovely!
Yep I really wanted a white and orange tour series cart bag to replace my C-130.Unfortunately it has no cooler pockets on it so i won't be getting one
We only really need it over here for 3 months of the year so not a deal breaker for me!
I bought a PING G30 on Monday after having a quick driver fitting. I also learnt that my swing speed is consistently between 106-108mph, which is good according to the club pro. (What is an average pro speed, anybody know?)
He laughed at my original driver after he saw my swing
Anyway, played on Wednesday and finished 13 over after an appauling start.
Think I need to invest in some new irons and woods, just because my driver deserves some better companions in the bag.

Lovely driver! I wanted to go for the G30 range but couldn't justify the extra £250 on top of the G25's what with having to replace everything else as well.He laughed at my original driver after he saw my swing

Yeah - anything over 100mph is fast really!! I presume you have an extra stiff shaft? Did you go for 9.5 degree?

Pro's swing their drivers around the 115-125mph mark depending on who it is. Luke Donald is down around 110mph and is one of the slower swingers on Tour. But keep in mind, they're probably only swinging at around 80-90% at most.He laughed at my original driver after he saw my swing

106-108mph is definitely above average for an amateur. If you aren't seeing drives of over 250/260 yards then you need to try and have a look at your launch numbers.
That's the best excuse for buying a new set of irons etc i think i've heard yet, fair play!
I'm averaging around the 270yd mark, sometimes with a little bit of fade which I'm trying to get rid of. It is a lovely driver to hit though, I now feel confident when stepping up to the tee, that I have some sort of control of where it's going to end up.
After posting my last comment I found myself wandering over to buy the G30 3&5 woods with the 80g stiff shaft... I love golf, such a cheap sport.
The irons are next but I could just have mine bent as the marker tape showed me 2degrees upright, I wasn't really looking for an excuse not to spend my money.

Well I played yesterday on what I thought was going to be a great day, the weather was difficult as we started at 8 O'clock but looked likely to improve, there was quite a bit of fog still but the first hole looked very inviting for a nice long drive down the middle.
First Tee
My tee shot went fairly straight but must of had a nasty bounce, and I ended up in the worst possible position which would go on to set the standard of the day.
Ball position after my first tee shot.
we played up to the 13th hole and chucked in the towel, I had been hitting the ball great with all my clubs down the range but on the day I couldn't deliver, more practice needed I think.
Don't you just love Golf!!!

No disrespect to him but he is also 59....unless he's in incredible shape for his age, he'd find the length of the courses the most difficult part of the game. So IMO doesn't really proove much. Look at Matt Fitzpatrick. He's 19 or 20 and was a top Amateur before turning pro, playing off plus 4 i believe. Sure he finished plus 10 at the open, but that is a much more difficult comp than a Challenge Tour event.

I'm sure that we've all had a ball in that situation. Whenever it happened to me it used to end up costing me 2, 3 or even more shots because I used always try something miraculous. Which of course rarely worked! This then usually meant that the round went down hill as I tried too hard to get them back. Now, I tell myself to get the ball back to where I'd wanted it to go on the previous shot. And ensure that it only costs me one shot. This almost always means chipping sideways or backwards or a penalty shot. A good term I've heard for this is, 'play to play again'. The key thing to do after this, is then play the same shot you would have done if your previous shot had been in good position. e.g. if you would have gone for the middle of the green because the pin is in a dangerous position, stick to that shot. Don't try the glory shot to try and make up for the back in to play shot.Ball position after my first tee shot.
I'd say that the 'take your medicine shot' is one of the hardest shots in golf because we all try to make it up for it immediately.

I agree though - hideous way to start your round.

I love that lie - it's so bad that it'd put me off reaching into my empty bag of talent and attempting the famous low running double power hyper fade with triple bite back spin and a whiff of coriander.

nice flat swing while on your knees...easy! ha! tough break getting that lie, but as above...it's all about taking your medicine and moving on! What a great game eh!Sometimes we just have to take our medicine - it only costs one stroke.
