Good luck everyone who is running this today. You will inspire a lot of people for years to come. My OH did it few years ago and so proud of her achievement.
Was amazing to watch.

I'll be there, go a place through club.

I've given up on the sub 3.00 goal, as I've had 4 weeks out of 16 out due to injuries.

Just started bedding in my race day trainers....

Edit: I'm a bit of a minmalist, I won't be running with phone or gels or anything.

Well the tracker shows an estimate of 3.13.... not too far over your 3hrs and about 24hrs quicker than I could do it!!
Best of luck to all who are competing today.

I had a good day as a spectator today and came home with a tan. It seemed very well organized as usual and London looked in fine fettle.

There were several of my club mates running, one of whom did 3:32, which isn't bad. It's better when you consider he ran Brighton last week and has run 8 marathons between Brighton and London - 10 marathons in 8 days, that's 262 miles. Dean, respect.

Big congrats to everyone who ran today, what an inspiration. I'll certainly be putting my name down for next year's event.

One day I'll get a place in the Ballot. 4 years on the trot and not yet. (Depending on who you talk to depends on whether you think they are still running the 5 tries and you're in thing. I'm not optimistic)

On a side note, normally watch on BBC but after seeing the guy who was running barefoot and the woman who was going to knit the whole time whilst running. Switched to Eurosport. Adverts aside it was pretty good. (If I see that Mo Farah Quorn ad one more time! laugh ) They focused on the Elites which is great. Whereas the BBC coverage is forever doing the "people stories" bits or finding some z lister or BBC presenter whose shuffling round in 7 hours to talk to

And Jonathon Edwards really can't present can he! hehe

So happy to finish today! Conditions were difficult considering most of the training was in 5 degree weather, at least I got a tan. Finished in 4.17 which is a 10 min pb so I'm chuffed.

The atmosphere was unbelievable and I hope the spectators know how much they pulled us all around the course. For some reason my chip didn't register so I didn't get an official time which is disappointing though.

Well done everybody - muchos respect for everyone that finished yesterday in very warm conditions (Saturday would have been perfect with plenty of cloud cover!).

I got round in 03:34:02 which is an 18.5 minute PB for me. I was going for sub-3:30 but I lost about a minute in the opening mile due to congestion and I missed two Lucozade stops (15 and 19) so my pace fell by about 20 - 30 seconds for miles 21 to 24 but managed to pick it back up for the final 2 miles. I also stopped for 45 seconds to propose to my girlfriend with about 400m left to go and she said yes!

I ended up on TV, running past the camera whilst Tony Audenshaw from Emmerdale and Marathon Talk was being interviewed by Jonathan Edwards.

All in all, very pleased with the day. Gonna give the marathon a break for a few years and concentrate on getting my half marathon time down to sub-90. Will look to run a low-key marathon on the next outing where there's not so much congestion and a few more quiet patches - the noise was so intense and I wish I'd had some earphones to just zone out from it all every once in a while.

Congratulations on the race and the proposal!!!! I know if I'd have stopped 400m from the finish I'd never start again.

Great news.

Congratulations on the proposal.

After stopping at Brighton last weekend with an injury, i ran with a lot of tape and a promise to "go slow" i did 3.22 - was very warm and very busy and most of all very very loud, the tunnels were a welcome relief from the crazy noise!!

Nice day out though - although I see on the news this morning that someone has died, very sad.

Thanks gents. I was bricking it whether I'd be able to get back up again after kneeling down on one knee and thankfully, there was no issue whatsoever.

esuuv - what's your marathon PB again? That's some good going to have done some of Brighton and then covered London yesterday in 3:22.

PB is 3.14.15 from Brighton last year - this year i've had a niggling achilles injury that flared up at Brighton - i'm doing an ironman in July and really could do without a month off training so stopped at 19 miles.....Physio said this week that I was ok but didn't advise pushing, I was going to do 3.30 but got a bit carried away.....good race just very busy.

Completely and utterly fked it. Went through 1/2 feeling fine, got to 18 on pace for a 3:05-3:10 which felt fine and bam, left leg just siezed and went down. I thought my fuelling strategy was good enough, but apparently not. Was going to drop out, but my parents were there so didn't....walked/jogged the rest.

1st half @ 1:32, 2nd half in 2:16! Absolute failure, and I was in tears.

Never encountered cramp like that. Had an massage today, and atruggling walking down stairs.

Heart rate was a steady 170 as well, and first 18 felt so comfortable, so don't think it's lactic acid build yp

Congrats to all of you!

I had a great day spectating. Started at Canada Water and walked/jogged to the 7 mile mark where I saw the elite men and main race come through. Then it was a dash through the Greenwich foot tunnel to the Isle of Dogs and catch the leaders at mile 16. Jogged back to 15 to support my club mates then sprinted to 20 miles to catch Mo again at Westferry. Jumped on the DLR there to Bank and the Circle line to Westminster to see Mo once more before running into St James's Park to support my team mates with 800m to go.

As usual it all makes me want to have another crack at the marathon...

Don't have one. Paced a friend to her PB @ 6mins/mile for 21 miles in Zurich a few years ago and got to 15 miles in London 2009 when my left Achilles gave up, prompting 2 years out injured.

Maybe one day... Should convert the 1:48:20 20 mile PB into a decent marathon.

Why would you not take on fuel? Body out of fuel after likely 1.30-1.45 then running on nothing...or were you joking when you said no gels etc?

I haven't watched this, but on BBC red button, Richard Nerurkar was commentating on the elite race - you might find that more pleasing.

I was told at the weekend that they don't still do the '5 tries and you're in thing' but this wasn't official, just from a runner.

Did my first London Marathon on Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thought the atmosphere was awesome, and the amount of support I got was incredible. Wasn't aiming for a time, as I just wanted to run round and take in the atmosphere. Managed to come home in 4h:10m which I was quite pleased with given that it was warm and I was wearing this....
