The PH London Marathon 2014 Thread
Discussion
My running club is very culturally diverse and probably has a representative cross section of the local population. Having said that, most races I've attended are not as diverse.
What I love about running clubs is the variety of jobs/backgrounds you get. From the window cleaner, the carpenter, the CIO, the sales manager, the teacher etc. Pretty much most of society is covered in 200 people

But there's loads of black people in London yet hardly any black people ran the London Marathon save for the elite runners.
Generally I think most running/cycling/tennis/rowing clubs are mostly white dominated, probably a class thing I guess? You don't think they had someone throwing black peoples entries in a bin do you?

I hope I'm wrong, but are you saying that white people do these sports and are a different class to black people?
I think you know what I meant, but hey, try and paint me as a massive racist why don't you Yes, cultural thing is what I tried to mean, Ewen summed it up well. And it was something I noticed on the day too.

I subscribe to the "any club that would have me as a member" so generally train on my own. But have noticed on numerous occasions that the women who run at my speed or slightly faster at events, generally have great asses What I love about running clubs is the variety of jobs/backgrounds you get.
