To be fair they may as well have tried it on, hopeless as it no doubt was. It was an all or nothing game.
I've no idea what they were trying to achieve though - did they expect Poite to come out in the 2nd half and immediately YC Hooper? Or were they more likely to just piss him off?

...FFS just reward those you haven't already with a start....
Or leave them all fully tarred and start over after the tournament?

(I suspect I'm one few who quite like Farrell)

The pro12 is a disgraceful waste of time. I hate almost every bit of it.
Shock horror - another Pro12 ref bottles two (maybe three) clear and obvious penalty trys rolleyes

HOW THE HELL WAS THAT NOT A PENALTY TRY???

Three penalties in a row under the sticks 5yrds or less out and the red doesn't award one??? Ffs!

I may have just lost my cool in the pub aswell and told some kiwi student tt to fk off after that, busy saying no penalty try becUse it wasn't 3 penalty scrums in a row and therefore doesn't count. Not often I do that, might have to apologise later frown

Because it was New Zealand and you can't award a penalty try against them!!

Also it doesn't have to be 3 in a row to award one

I know that, you know that, even the Welsh know that (calm down HR, Sym tongue out) but alas this dick is being a dick. Holding court and not shutting up still!

very impressive by Tonga in the 1st half... they deserved a try at the least and they battered the Kiwi pack (dread to think what the Frogs might do to it!!!) - also thought that one of the AB tries was lucky not to at the very least get a 2nd viewing but in the end the ABs came good

Yeeeeyyy. Rugby Saturday.

I fancy Samoa for an upset but they've been poor. Scotland keep structured and they'll win.

I'd really like to see Wales beat the Aussies, looking forward to seeing Tipuric play. However I'm really not sure where Wales are with their injuries and will need more than the guts and determination they showed against England. Australia without Hooper, but quality all over, if Wales scrum can't front up I can't see them getting much of a platform to play off.

RL grand final-Wigan to win.

England will stuff Uruguay and it won't matter one bit. Lancaster to resign in the morning but while I think he should and will go it will be dragged out.

IF (and only IF) what I've heard about his contract is true the man would either be a fool, or more likely have secured a deal to resign. Allegedly he has millions in the bank if he doesn't resign. Now I'd like to think that the RFU have had the sense to put loopholes in his contract, but I hope they havn't as they caused this mess and he seems like a really nice bloke.

Personally - I really don't like what has happened. I have loads of respect for Mallinder, but him coming out and saying he has international ambitions when the bloke is still in the job is wrong (he's also snubbing his employers, I wouldn't go on record as saying I'd like to go and do bigger and better things at work...). The RFU approaching other coaches and being caught out is disgusting. England have nothing to play for. They have nothing but some self respect and pride to work for. And the RFU are eroding that further.

Hoping the guys play well today. Tomorrow will be a new day and I'm sure England have a new coaching team and new squad coming. Some players are going to lose out unfairly. Robshaw isn't the best 7 in England, but he was one of our better players in this WC. He will probably not play for England again. That's a shame for him but probably best for the squad. Oh well - onwards and upwards.

I'm enjoying Samoa Scotland. Very entertaining first half for a neutral.

A question, Samoa are attacking with a couple of dummy runners ahead of the ball carrier and these guys are often close to getting in the way. Is that legal?

It's the bane of modern rugby. All the teams do it, so I guess it evens out.

Scotland are defending like my daughter's touch-rugby team...

It's what the rugby is all about - the neutrals and the newcomers. And for that reason, it's been brilliant. Forget the bloated ego's and egendas of the the RFU and England, my elderly next door neighbours were clued to the Namibia v Georgia game, and raving about Romania overturning a 15 point deficit to overturn Canada. And Samoa and Scotland are serving up more of the same. Great game for those new to rugby to watch

Great game this. Hopefully Scotland can pull ahead in the second half.
