Much better from England in the afternoon session.
But with all the experience on the field (Cook, Broad, Prior, Anderson, Bell) why did it take a break in play to change the approach?

Nice for England to get the tail out before tea, gives us a whole session at the proper batsman.

A chat in the dressing room perhaps? You know, captain hasn't got a clue... wink

has someone worked out how many wickets India have lost due to not having DRS vs how many they've gained?

Have we wasted this wicket?

Beginning of first day and it's already worthy of a ffs.... ffs!
Oh common, it's not really worthy of a ffs.

123/5 now, I'd say that England aren't doing too badly.

I'm just dreading tomorrow when the Indian bowlers really show the English batsmen how it should be done hehe

Without doubt there's a good bit of swing there, must be that gloobal warmin and heat wave the BBc keep banging on about.

Quite why they've just (50th over) given Ali the ball I'm not sure, maybe to give the seamers a rest?

Whilst writing this... AND ANOTHER ONE!!!!

I take back everything I just said about Ali!

128/6

I guess we could see England bat today!
At this rate and with England's known collapses we could be wrapped up within 3 days hehe
OK I'll take back the ffs. Was in Boycott mode. But on the other hand agree with His Geoffreyness that they should have had them out.

Sadly the comments above re a number of the England batters back in the hutch by close bit too close for comfort.

Boycott came on 5 Live this morning introduced by a female presenter and said " Hello Luv" You could hear her breath deeply. He once laughed at my wife in Barbados the misogynist. She did deserve it though.

Not sure how to call this one, each session will make it swing one way or another. Tail enders will not be gettting records. Cook has no excuse in his batting chasing a huge total though is my guess, hope he does well.

Golf is more interesting at the moment for me though

That was a good and very valuable partnership for India though.

Rahane is on form at the moment! Shame for another tailender partnership!

Agreed, great knock by Rahane, was he a bit lax after getting the century?

Easy pickings for Anderson there.

England really seem to have wasted the new ball bowling so wide of the target.

When they were about 140-6, I was thinking England are gonna skittle India out for under 200, but the partnership between Rahane and Kumar has given India something to bowl at. They'll probably get to 300 tomorrow.

Said it a million times, but Cook has to get a good score tomorrow.

Actually given that England were 145/7 I think you are entitled to throw your 'ffs' back again hehe

Nowt wrong with Boycott mode, especially when he's right.

My forecast for England having them all out by the afternoon session and then being all out themselves by close of play didn't quite come around.

Shocking when you look at the Indian card and as said before England wasted the new ball, His Geoffreyness is correct.

I'm always delighted to see any batsman get to the ton though. Great knock by Rahane there, he really got his eye in and hit the English bowlers for just about everything they deserved.
