Cricket: 2014 India tour of England, 9th July-7th September
Discussion
I have a vague recollection that England did something similar to the West Indies at Sabina Park during the 2004 tour when Harmison took 7 wickets for 12 runs.

I can't seriously believe ppl have actually still been complaining about Cook. 95 & 70no after a dismal run, India bowled out in 4 over, 200 added before tea and India set 450 to win with 4 sessions to go. That is about a perfect test match for England as it gets. Your two main men are back in the groove in the Skipper and strike man, your number 2 bat is back in the groove in Bell and you have set the conditions for victory.
You don't fking leave an opposition a chance of victory when you have the opportunity to ensure they know their only options are defeat or draw.

He has been lucky, so far. Sorry mate but you are miles off here. Cook hasn't won a test match for nearly 12 months, still hasn't hit a ton in about 30 innings and in this match India are without their best bowler and were blatantly bowling pies in the later stages today. You don't fking leave an opposition a chance of victory when you have the opportunity to ensure they know their only options are defeat or draw.
Yep, 99% we will cross the line, but frankly that is because Jimmy A is a bowling god. The lord help us if he breaks down anytime soon.

We are trailing in the series. We have to win a test or we lose the series. This may be our best chance to win a test match in the series. By taking the safety first route and not enforcing the follow on the captain may have blown our chance. Cook is a poor captain IMO.
eight more to go, plenty of time to wheedle them out, though the Indians do seem to want to self destruct.
We'll win this, Cook's remembered that he does have some class with the bat, Bell has remembered which end to hold it. The bowlers have performed ok. Balance, Buttler and Woakes have all done very well.
What's with all the crap about needing to sprint this? The race isn't always to the swift, nor the fight to the strong.

I agree. Even if we win this match by 200+ runs Cook should go. He should take the next year or so off. The 95 in the first innings was pure luck as was the 70 not out today. Give someone who knows the toe from the handle a chance to bat.
His immediate resignation when we win after lunch tomorrow would be the best thing for team morale.

But India would have known on day 2 they were only going to draw or lose. You don't fking leave an opposition a chance of victory when you have the opportunity to ensure they know their only options are defeat or draw.
By not enforcing the follow on it means India would only have to survive 4 sessions.
Now they still should win, but IMO the follow on should have been enforced and then if come tomorrow England needed to knock off 50 odd runs to win then so be it.

I wouldn't criticise the lack of follow on. Even Botham seems to think it's been a perfect match so far for England.
Jordan is probably the only change for the next Test. Who for, I have no idea.
I really wouldn't want to change a winning team, unless his replacement really knew his Onions.Jordan is probably the only change for the next Test. Who for, I have no idea.

Alternatively, if the Indians decide they know how to bat they can keep the England side roasting in the field for a further two days knackering the main strike bowlers in the process.Cook is a poor captain IMO.
