On the upside, this should be the straw that breaks Cook's back in terms of ODIs. We need to go back to the drawing board.

Don't worry, Sri Lanka next for 7 ODIs, new era starts then.

I wouldn't count on it, although all be it to a lesser extent, I think the selectors/management team have backed themselves into a bit of a corner with Cook and have hitched their star to him as the test and ODI captain.

You've got to wonder what the issue actually is, management, captaincy, personnel. The approach needs to change, England seem to approach a ODI with a shortened test match mentality, where a long 20:20 game ethos seems to be the better way to go. Our run rate says it all really.

I'm a little bit worried about the state of cricket in general more than I have been after this tour. India it would appear couldn't give two about test cricket and we're a mile off beating all but possibly the minnows in the 50 over game.

These guys time the ball so well and do not fanny about much with reverse sweeps or move about the crease like they have ants in their pants.

I wish the English players would take note.

Crushing loss for England, their bowlers got toyed about and thrashed by the Indian openers. Fantastic run chase by India. Dominated from start to finish. Dhawan was unlucky he finished on 97 not out. Deserved the century. Back to the drawing board for Cook. Its not gonna be any easier, they play Sri Lanka next.

I was actually a bit disappointed that England got a wicket there. Didn't deserve it.

The fans, however, were a disgrace. OK, so support the country your Mum and Dad come from, but don't boo every single thing someone from the country you were born in does. It's not a fking pantomime.

Well said.
This is half the problem I believe. We are trying to over complicate things. Too many of what I would call 'non cricket' shots. Look at the interval with a so called 'master class' with Jos Buttler and his ramp shot. Useful and innovative 3 years ago but not now( he did get a poor decision today though). It seems to me that some of the England players are trying to play the 50 over game in a 20/20 style - with spectacularly unsuccessful results. The rest seem happy with a strike rate below 60. They seem not to have a plan, or I should say that plan (as they are sure to have one) is supremely confusing to them. They seem not to know their best team.
Swanny was right I believe! Cricket is a funny game though!

Watching it now on highlight! Good bowling by them, but how come they couldnt bowl like than in the test match and our batting is just nuts!

Moeen Ali batted good though, bowling could improve, but IMO I see him more as a batsman than a bowler at the moment.

Cook admits after being ODI Captain for Three and a Half years, that he has no idea who the best 11 players are.

He can't lead the side, bats too slowly and is tactically pretty hopeless.

I have no idea where we go from here, but we are just a bit st at ODI and probably will always be so.

I don't mind Cook being Test skipper as there is no one else, but he shouldn't be ODI captain. Morgan should be skipper and England actually play players who are good at ODI. The top 7 had 5 out of the test team which have been short of runs.

Give some other players a chance for the World Cup next year.

Judging by the crowd it looked like an away game for England!
