Scuba Diving - Scotland

Does anyone have any experience of Scuba Diving around Scotland and if so would you please share some advice on good dive spots? I'm PADI Openwater qualified but I haven't done any diving since I qualified. I'm just after a few refresher dives somewhere nice.

Sorry I wasn't sure which section this should go in. The knowledge base of the PH members never fails to amaze me so though this may seem like a pretty random post I'm sure there's someone out there who can help..

Oban puffin or Aberdeen watersports, dived both and will go back to both.

I dived the Isle of May off Kirkcaldy, great dives, though you maybe need a bid more experience. Scapa flow is something that also has to be experienced at some point. Again a degree of experience is needed, all good dives are quite deep 100ft plus

Interesting and weird coincidence. Yesterday evening I was in Anstruther for their 'world famous' fish and chips (which are very good but my rule is if the queue is out the door it's not worth it). I noticed there are boat trips from there to the Isle of May for bird watching and to walk around the island so I picked up a leaflet. I'll have a look at diving there but I've literally just done a PADI OpenWater and a handful of fun dives so it might be out of my league.

Look to join a local club, I would recommend BSAC over PADI. They will have regular weekend dives on their own boats, you need to get 50 or so dives under your belt before trying the isle of may, and maybe 75 or so with 30% being sub 100ft to dive Scapa.

May is a great dive, the cliffs are shear straight to the sea bed at about 90/100ft. there is an old coal steamer wreck just off were the boats moor for the birdwatchers and a few wrecks on the seaward side of the island actually on the island, pushed up there by the north sea storms. Lots of squat lobsters around for tea

when I dived there, on one dive I waited at the bottom of the shot line for my buddy to follow, when I looked up I was surrounded by puffins feeding on a shoal of sprats it was quite an experience, the the seal started also, great times. I dived the area about 30 times.
